Newcastle Cannot Meet This Requirement For Krzysztof Piatek

Newcastle have scouted the 23-year-old Polish international striker Krzysztof Piatek of Genoa this season

It’s his first season in the Italian League, and he has scored 13 goals in 13 games in all competitions for his club so far.

There are some big clubs like Chelsea interested in acquiring the in-form striker.

Newcastle’s best chance of signing him to the club is that he will play a lot of games on Tyneside; he may not get that at bigger clubs like Chelsea.

However, he has said that his ambition is to play in The Champions League and there doesn’t seem much hope that Newcastle can play in Europe’s top competition any time soon.

But Rafa Benitez will undoubtedly require that the club he manages in the future must be able to challenge for European competition.

Krzysztof Piatek – ambition is to play in the Champions League

The current lack of European competition at Newcastle could be a deal-breaker in our bid to sign Piatek in January,

But you never know.

This is what the striker told Corriere della Sera:

“I do feel a little like Christopher Columbus.”

“He set out on an adventure from Genoa and the dream of any young player coming here is to use it as the starting point for a step up to a big club.”

“If I continue this way, I could sign for a big club. My objective is to play in the Champions League.”

“I don’t come near him now, but I think one day I can reach the level of Robert Lewandowski.

“Genoa are a big club, but not among the strongest teams in Italy right now.

“It’s far easier to score goals at Real Madrid or Juventus.”

Piatek may be a bridge too far for Newcastle in January, but at least we seem to be going after some top players in January.

However, until we get a new owner in the ambitions of Newcastle United under Mike Ashley will remain limited.

That’s the sad thing.

What do you think?

hmmm, that remains to be seen – this is all just paper talk atm, though interesting it’s really only a conversation piece till we see what the chubby one intends.

    Ed
There is a player who’s with a Northern club and currently starring in their reserve team who would jump at the chance to play in our 1st team, would cost next to nothing as well.

Perhaps you ought to be headlining players like this rather than the unrealistic ones you keep mentioning.

Hey guys. I’m from India and planning to visit SJP on the 22nd of Dec for the Fulham game. Can anyone suggest the best place in the stand I can book tickets for? The online bookings just opened today and I have Gallowgate end (duh!) in mind but which part?

In the Strawberry corner, that’s the corner nearest the East stand.

I could see a lot of fans taking offense had those comments been about Toon. The part about stepping stone and moving to a big club and so on. Not sure this would be a good idea.

EGB @12 – I only know Morse Code for SOS – however that is enough to work out who you are referring to.

Ryan – if you want a good atmosphere, singing etc then as Jail suggest Strawberry Corner. If you want something more sedate then maybe the centre of the Gallowgate or Leazes end. Bear in mind if you are used to watching on TV you might find it very strange watching from one end so you could always go for the East Stand or Milburn Stand – try and and avoid the higher levels of the Milburn as it can be like watching ants pushing a pea around 😀

I sit in the Gallowgate East Corner (strawberry corner). If it’s atmosphere your after then that’s the best place to be. Be prepared to have ringing ears and a sore throat afterwards like 😆

I would recommend getting a seat within the first ten rows from the pitch for a one off match. The atmosphere in your section is import but seeing the action and skill of our hero’s up close stays with you just as much.

Just so we are all clear here, we all knew who it was as we support the club and we were just trying for a fun blog banter day. Exit stage left!!!!!

c-dog, I do wonder at your attitude at times. The current crop may not be my heroes, but when I was a kid, the likes of Beardsley, Keegan, Gazza and Waddle were.

My kids have a similar adoration for the likes of Kenedy, Lascelles, Shelvey and Yedlin.

Heroes all, in the minds of enough to make it true. If they manage to keep us up again this season, they’ll be my heroes too.

If Kødd means Catchy, then could Catchy’s posts be known as …. Køddswolloop?

    Just a thought.
