Report – Newcastle Interested in Spanish Left-Back For January

There’s a report in Sports Witness today that Newcastle United are interested in Junior Firpo who has been at Real Betis for four years and this season made his breakthrough into the first team.

He has been in outstanding form this season and has played 16 times with three goals and two assists in all competitions so far this season,

Firpo was born in the Dominican Republic and has lived most of his life in Spain, and he holds citizenship for both countries.

In late August this year, Junior was called up to the Spanish U21 team and made his debut in early September starting in a 3–0 win against Albania.

22-year-old Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo – Newcastle interested

ABC Sevilla are reporting that the Newcastle and Crystal Palace are the two Premier League clubs most interested in the 22-year-old.

He has a €50m release clause in his contract at Real Betis, but no club is going to pay that amount for him – certainly not Newcastle.

Junior seems committed to Real Betis and told his agent earlier this season that he didn’t want to hear anything about transfers.

Not until the January transfer window opens next month because he wants to concentrate on playing well for Betis.

This is what Junior has said about the January transfer window:

“Until then, nothing can happen. It’s 100% true that I don’t know anything. I told my agent clearly that he isn’t to tell me anything. Maybe he’ll inform me on January 1st.”

Rafa and Newcastle could try to get the 22-year-old on a bargain buy because of his lack of experience.

But that may not be possible with Manchester City also said to be interested in the player.

Unless the cost of the player is £10M or less we don’t think Newcastle will pursue this potential target – but we’ve been wrong before.

The other left-back Rafa is interested in for the January transfer window is 19-year-old PSG French left-back Stanley N’Soki.

He was priced at 10M in early August but the youngster thought it was early to switch to the Premier League.

What do you think?

Franklin Templeton has been owned by the Johnson family
    for 3 generations.
Globally, the company’s total assets under management surpass
    US$950 billion.
If this has legs they blow every other PL owner out of the water

Where’s the Johnstone link come from ?

Is this the Johnstone family that I think have two major but separate business interests ?
One side of the family are involved in household products ( polish etc ) the other family group more diverse significantly with sporting goods and sports retail interest which would give them knowledge and interest in both football and possibly Ashley. They bought and owned sports label Jack Wolfskin who were at some point a secondary Liverpool sponsor but sold up the business around the time of 9/11 to focus on USA based rather than European based activities. If they’re involved that position may be about to change ?

    For FA fit and proper:-

Premier League checks and processes when clubs change hands take around 14 days to complete.
The Christmas break and Richard Scudamore’s departure as executive chairman of the league later this month could also be complicating factors regarding that timeframe.

    OLG,
I left that post because you seem to be more interested in letting us know where we heard it first than a genuine knowledge, I mentioned DubaiMickey’s post as a shot in thee dark, I also found your post about being able to cash in on the news but not needing the money a bit off, for someone who doesn’t want to be seen as an ITK you seem to be milking this. I thought you and Jiblets would come up with the jealousy thing so I found this post,

I’m still very sceptical anything is happening and have a bad feeling that Mondays interview was in retaliation for him being hounded at the Commons.

Shooting season started on the Glorious Twelfth in August so seems long way to travel to Northumberland for grouse moors. The big estates are in Scotland and that’s where the money goes.

Although any deal may not be concluded before the start of the transfer window, a pre-agreement could be made that firms up the price of the club and in addition, any monies spent on new transfers.

Surely this has to be the big one , finally.
When peter kenyon turned up at SJP I was always hopeful that a sale had legs . I am just amazed no one saw the potential to invest £300Mill or so and turn us into a successful high value asset of about £2 billion like ManU,Chelsea or City. I would love to look back in 5yrs or so and see the F@T TW@T green with envy thinking , IF ONLY.

Hibbit…….. Interesting article that in the Independant. If they are reporting with genuine knowledge that it will be a clean break from Shyte Direct should Ashley sell then that will be one of my huge concerns alleviated.

To have a new owner/era at the club with the stench of SD still lingering at the ground with some of the160 plus hoardings still remaining is not a very appetising prospect.

If a takeover does happen and we get a clean break I think I might have to ditch the moniker although it would give me great pleasure to see the man jailed.
