Newcastle were a little dodgy in defense in the game against West Ham at home on Saturday in the second half.
It ended up to be a surprise 3-0 defeat after we had won three games in a row.
But the defense was back in form last night at Goodison Park and showed grit, guts, and courage to limit the Toffees to a single goal in the hard-won point and a 1-1 draw.
Martin Dubravka continued his excellent form in goal for Newcastle this year and was our Man of the Match with 44% of the vote.
Martin Dubravka – Man of the Match – another brilliant display
With Juventus said to be after him, Rafa may want to give him a new improved contract given how important player has been this year at Newcastle – he deserves it too.
The current two starting center-backs Fernandez and Schar were second and third respectively in the voting – and they have proven to be excellent together in central defense.
But Swiss International Schar picked up his fifth yellow card of the season so he will get a one-match ban and will, therefore, miss the home game against Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
It was an excellent result for us last night, and now 3 points is exactly what we need on Sunday afternoon against Wolves at home.
A win will help us climb the league table although not with the next game because we are now a full 5 points behind the club just above us in the league – West Ham.
Here’s where we stand after the midweek games.

I think a lot of fans will be done with the club this time if he pulls the wool over our eyes again. Going on Tv to say that the club is closer to being taken over than ever, And now it is looking loke the frog may have a point…God forbid.
The worrying aspect is Rafas insistence he knows nothing about a takeover, And Mashley has not even sanctioned a deal for Almiron…What the F@ck is going on

Comment #42You can’t give any credence to one media source over any other – this Paul Tenorio character is just as likely to be wrong as whichever outlet ‘broke’ the loan deal with an option to buy.
As with anything else, we’ll only know for certain what is going on when it actually happens. Not worth getting our hopes up too high or allowing our spirits to be crushed depending on what is the latest tweet.
I do think that Steve Nickson is in the US negotiating a deal for Almiron. That’s a positive thing until we’re told it’s no deal. I do think that Kenyon is heading a bid for NUFC. That is also a positive thing.
Anything else in the press at the moment is just speculation as the specifics of any player or club purchase deal will remain private.
Still, the speculation is good craic….
I think I’d take the snippets supplied by the likes of Online Guy and Dubai Micky over any journos at the moment

Just wait for news to come to u instead of going out looking for news. Also dont forget fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me. If ash dont sell now he is never selling.

Good on you sir for the positivity. Rafa on his comments today must be paying ball with the hush hush brigade if there is indeed a pillar of hope or positive news hidden behind the scenes.
As always mate nothing runs smoothly when it comes to the toon and When Ashley is involved, He will only do what is best for him and no one else

Comment #45Also looks like ash has been successful in stopping the boycotts and protests. These useless nufc fans. We have been protesting for couple months and apparently theyve negotiated sale during that. So why would it now affect sale if we still continue protest and boycotts? Im 95percent ash is messing around 5 percent hope im wrong

To be fair, after last year I just treat any sort of good or hopeful news from Ashley and his camp as false. So any takeover talk from him, sky etc is an automatic GTFOH. I’ll only believe it until it’s official and the sports direct signs are ripped down.

Anyone who is involved in a takeover (if there is one) will deny everything and admit nothing until the time is right.

Comment #48Aces, agreed – we’re all desperate for news, ready to believe anything we read, positive or negative.
Mind, someone posted that they had seen Kenyon outside SJP yesterday and he said news on Friday. 95% likely to be nonsense, but I’ll be keeping an optimistic eye out anyway.

Yeah, having nickson over there is a good sign to want to sign the player.
About the takeover, what I find odd is it seems all these outlets and journalists have supposedly been sitting on this for months and only after hearing Ashley on Monday, suddenly they’re all out suggesting things are close and how there are 4 interested bidders etc.
I don’t know, doesn’t sit right with me. This day and age, the media don’t really care about being right, just about being first. It does seem though nothing sells as much or grabs the attention of us lot up here than a takeover rumour.

Comment #55I was a little bit thrown by the reports of Nickson going to the U.S. to negotiate a deal for Almiron. It couldn’t be much more than a year ago that Nickson was a scout reporting to Graham Carr, and now Nickson is negotiating deals and contracts with international clubs?
The rumours seem strong enough to have some substance, but this is the first time I have heard of Nickson being involved with directly signing players.

Comment #60Like I said lets just wait until mid January when picture should become more clearer as to what could be happening. Dream scenario we get sold on transfer deadline day and put crazy bids in for big players like man city did in august 31 2008 i think it was.

Comment #62Aces, from what I’ve read it seems like someone has reached out to various fans groups and asked them to consider not protesting further. I imagine True Faith (the first to announce they were withdrawing their support) were one of the first.
I think the fact that the Magpie Group and the various fans’ groups which are members of it have pulled their support means that they think the purchase is possible.
I’d be interested to hear Wayayman’s take on things, pretty sure he’s connected with the Magpie Group

Comment #66Atlanta United president Darren Eales has told Sky Sports that highly-rated playmaker Miguel Almiron will not be sold for “chump change” and only “serious offers” will be considered.
Almiron’s impressive form over the last two seasons with Atlanta has seen him become one of the most coveted players in MLS.
There has been speculation that the Paraguay international could be heading to the Premier League in January, with Newcastle linked with a move.
And we were saying ????

Comment #67Just wait till the current selling lie ends in the usual way
And it accived the desired result of a near total lack of investment in the team
Again
I can see them not wanting a big crowd in the ground as the level of toxicity, anger and resentment will be reaching 1980s levels
Every time he uses the big lie it causes the exact opposite of what he wants
Even his lies are short term gain at the expense of long term benifits

I was just wondering have you any sensible points of view are are you only able to think and express yourself in one dimension
Just because someone thinks you are a knob doesn’t mean they think Ashley is anything other than poisonous
In fact it makes them a genius
