It seems like everything went against Newcastle yesterday against Wolves and for the first time in the Premier League Wolves defeated Newcastle 2-1.
It was a poor marking and a Lascelles mistake that let Jota score after 17 minutes.
But a brilliant Perez header from a free kick leveled the scores after 23 minutes.
But then in the second half, Yedlin was sent off after 54 minutes, and that seemed a harsh decision by referee Mike Dean.
And then we had a good shout for a penalty turned down after Willy Boly seemed to elbow Perez in the face.
DeAndre Yedlin sent off after 54 minutes
Wolves won the game after 94 minutes with a quick breakaway (why were Newcastle players caught upfield) and Matt Doherty headed home after Jota’s shot was pushed away by Dubravka.
Rafa Benitez was uncharacteristically angry when he was interviewed after the game:
“Losing is always something that you don’t expect.”
“But in a game that you were controlling and we were doing enough at least to create chances and have the possibility to win the game.”
“Then you see these incidents, the red card and after, the elbow in the face of Ayoze that is a penalty and a red card.”
“The summary is that you lose three points and you see the table and you have to keep fighting in very difficult circumstances.”
“I saw the replay and we need VAR right now.” “You can see the replay.”
“I was praising the referees after a player was talking and they fined me.”
“Imagine how I feel now.” “You can see the two incidents in the video.”
“It was unbelievable.”
Rafa was fined earlier this season for making positive comments about Andre Mariner, and it’s likely he will be fined again – but we hope it’s not a touchline ban.
This was a crucial game for Newcastle, and we should never have lost this game and to give up the winning goal after 94 minutes was heartbreaking.

Comment #2As soon as Yedlin made his poor touch I thought they wa through on goal, a o fcuk moment.
It was a foul and we’d be happy with it of it was for us
The Perez incident in still undecided, one angle l9oks like a elbow the others don’t. Perez is known for crying wolf buy the ref should have stopped it to see how he was and stuff wolves they already had a advantage of a extra man and plays on.
At the end Perez and Kennedy were both guilty of giving the ball away cheaply and inviting wolves on, poor game management from certain players cost us a,point.
Disappointing and poor

Comment #3I did not agree with Rafa’s formation (too defensive) or the decision to play Yedlin out of position as centre half
but we were in the ascendancy before that scum bag Dean intervened
We would have won it

fuming – me to – had a bad nights sleep thinking about the game and the decisions of Dean f*8kin’ dick. We were kicked form pillar to post all game never mind the Perez incident
Come to the conclusion the premiership don’t want any teams north of Manchester in the Premiership
Dodgy decisions from game 1against the Spuds to yesterday. Refs reffing games who live just around the corner from the home team. Rafa gets a £60 thousand fine Klippedy Klopp £10 thousand fine then the pric* runs around on the pitch when they score winner against Everton – nowt done most likely. ARGHHHHHHH
18 sending offs for us in the 147 game run without the opposition having a player sent off

Comment #6MotD tried to be as uncontroversial and anodyne as it could.
Clearly Rafa didn’t want to be interviewed so it turned into a
Nuno Espirito Santos love in , pitchside , at SJP.
For a feeling of how it may pan out vis a vis appeals we’ll
probably get a better view from Sky’s “ref watch” this morning
Chancel be a fine thing

Comment #7OP, yes Yedlin fouled Jota, but Yedlin would have got to the ball first if Jota didn’t foul him first. Should have been a Newcastle free kick. Agree he dithered on the ball and caused the whole situation assisted by Lascelles poor pass to him leaving him in a pressure situation.
The ball was falling perfectly for Perez to head with power on goal, but he was 100% elbowed in the face should have been red card and and Dean had a perfect view. Perez goes down easy and overreacts, yes, but it definitely a penalty.
Yes, at the end, that was classic Perez, run into a dead end and fall over. Him doing that and Diame’s heavy touches are the causes of the vast majority of my swearing out loud at electronic devices.

Comment #8Totally gutted Wolves should have had a red card and we should have had a penalty – we were robbed of the three points – Absolutely no dispute!!!
But for the points we haven’t had through bad decissions we would have been comfortable in mid table.
Talk about bad luck if you get beat fair & square OK but it so disappointing to lose points like this!!!
