Rafa Seems To Be Changing The Way Newcastle Play

With so many good center-backs available at Newcastle Rafa seems to prefer to play three at the back.

When we attack, we will be in a 3-4-3 formation, and when defending, we’ll have five at the back with the wing-backs tucking in defensively.

Mo Diame thinks the side have played better when we have three rather than four at the back.

With center-backs Lascelles, Clark, Fernandez, Schar,  and Lejeune all available Rafa presumably could use three of those players in every game.

Mo Diame – played well for us this year

Mo Diame has again been playing regularly for Newcastle this season as the enforcer in the holding midfield position.

The former Senegal International  can play in any formation, and he has been talking about that in the Shields Gazette today:

“It doesn’t matter what system, but it does look like we are playing better football when we have three at the back,”

“We will see if we continue to play that way, that is what the manager is here to do, to decide things like that.”

“He (Benitez) makes decisions on every game which is different, to suit certain matches.”

“If he wants us to play in a three or a four we will be ready, we have the players to do that.”

“Ki is a good player, he has quality on the ball,”

“He is playing his part with this team since he started playing.”

“We have got points in this way and we have to keep going together, as a team, work hard to get the results.”

Diame seems to be able to play well with either Jonjo Shelvey or Ki Sung-yueng as his midfield partner.

Mo’s contract runs out next June, but it looks like if he plays a certain number of first-team games this season, Rafa Benitez will give him an extension to his contract in the summer.

Mo has deserved a new deal, and he’s been very steady at the back for us all this year.

Has Lord Lucan confirmed to the press he’s buying the club? Or is that 10am?

    RobLeenio,
Do you not think any agent worth his salt knows we need a LB and Rafa keeping it secret has absolutely zero affect on the price we pay. Just as all those people that got their knickers in a twist over Harry Redknapp and Demba ba’s release clause, his agent would have informed every club anyway, it’s what they do.

I don’t think it is just the centre half’s that have changed the way the Toon play
I think reality hit home at half time with in the Watford game and forced substitutions.

We were letting them have possession and sitting back hoping for a breakaway goal and 1-0

Playing like that we were not going to win any/ many games and 0-0 s were not going to save our season

We were lucky going in 0-0 Watford could of been out of sight

When Ki Schar came on we played more football and got onto the front foot which limited there time on the ball and possession.

And from there on we have looked like a team that could get something out of a game – bar West Ham by being a bit more adventerous

The Mag are talking about the Legal Team at Walker Morris in Leeds having their holidays put on hold due to possible involvement in NUFC deal.
The do have form in the Sports and Footballl market, for example:

Head of the Sports Team, David Hinchliffe, has been voted UK Sports Lawyer of the Year in:
Global 100 Sports Lawyer of the Year – 2017
    Corporate USA today – 2017

Seems to have recognition in the USA……which might be meaningful

IF Walker Morris are involved in the deal we could all be in for a very Merry Christmas.
Big hitters both here and the USA.

if this story is true there just might be a grain of truth in this deal, a company known for its integrity with massive respect in the business/sports legal community, there’s no better company to have on your side in this kind of situations with massive sporting/business connections round the world,

………………..i would be very impressed *IF* this story is true……………………….

JIB what a plum you are. Newcastle ventures is UK registered for a reason, and Lim lives in the same part of the world that the Gulfstream plane that flew to NCL airport last week. NY Mag has done some detective work here, and has possibly uncovered something important. But no, you just carry on trying to score points on an anonymous blog mate, that’s fine.
