Good News On The Injury Front For Newcastle

Newcastle resumed their training today after three days off following their excellent win 1-0 at Huddersfield.

We could do with another clean sheet on Saturday when we face bottom-of-the-table Fulham at home.

But no game is easy in the Premier League, and no game is easy for Newcastle in general, so this is expected to be a tough match for the lads.

But if we can win this game – two successive wins just before Christmas – will undoubtedly raise the spirits of Newcastle supporters everywhere.

And it looks like Federico Fernandez has recovered from the calf injury he picked up against Wolves as he was shown in training today.

Federico Fernandez – shown training today

We don’t know what formation Rafa will use against Fulham, but their defense seems the weakness, having conceded 42 goals in 17 games this season.

Rafa will have almost all five center-backs fit again with Lejeune just waiting for his chance back in the first team.

Lascelles was also shown with a cast on his left hand, but we expect he will be fit to play on Saturday.

Jamaal Lascelles – shown with a cast on left-hand today arriving for training

Clark, Dummett, Manquillo and Fabian Schar are also fit to play in the back line and Yedlin is now available having served his one-match ban for being sent off against Wolves.

So Rafa has some choices in defense and we’ll have to see what the defensive formation will be for the Fulham game.

Muto has also not played much for Newcastle recently and he will be off to the Asian Cup to represent Japan and will depart probably after the game at Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Maybe he will get a runout before he leaves for about a month away from Tyneside – depending on how well Japan fare in the Cup.

Ki will also be missing as he’s off to represent South Korea in the Asian Cup.

So we don’t seem to have many injury problems with at least eight games to play by the end of January.

Comments welcome.

Looking forward to the Fulham game. We still need to avenge our championship double defeat. Hopefully the players and tactics produce the talking points and not those officiating.

Munster your odious sidekick abandoned you when he found out I knew something he couldn’t refute. I’ll just leave it that you are a shouter with a miniature hand fetish and never threw a spinning ball in his life let alone saw one. 🙂 at least I don’t stultify all and sundry with rugby tales straight from players memoirs. You’re about 5’3″ and 9st soaked through I’ll wager ha ha. Unlike the prof. Jib who is by his own admission over his driving licence towing weight. Carry on with your inane use of my monicker if you will, just remember I took the higher ground with the profanity thing and didn’t apply it to you.

Aye not sure how long for but nufc have him out for the Fulham match. Must be that thigh injury reoccurring, either that or he wasn’t fully fit when he was on the bench recently.

    Ah knah.

Physioroom has no return date and a quote from rafa saying he’ll be reassessed in 10 days.
Maybe lobby will get a run out after all. Still there’s uncertainty as to when exactly Ki will be going so it might be ok. My worry is that the competition for places or lack of it will give the person in that position no reason to push to retain it

Apparently someone with all the money in the world is buying NUFC. I’m not sure how it works though the reported unlimited funds means that the money they used to purchase the club automatically goes back into the club and the same goes for player purchases.

Completely agree Jib. Tsunki’s verbose and articulate manner has slipped because he can’t take return fire, just as jesper showed. I don’t think he had ever mentioned rugby before so not sure where his ‘lock second row’ even started. But I know nothing, having grown up watching Shannon, garryowen, munster and Ireland. Actually Tis, the positions I didn’t play were second row and number 8 (or four two’s in your language) and 10 (that’ll be an out half, or fly half in old money) so I’ll have to bow to your superior knowledge on lock play. There again save it. Hey, did u see rafa’s pic on job getty collection. Small hands eh? That must mean I hate him, obviously.

And just to show you up for the blustering bull merchants you try to be – from
    http://www.rugbyfootballhistory.com/positions.html

    “4 & 5 Lock
The second row forwards (also known as locks) are the engine room of the scrum and the target men in the lineout, meaning that they need to be tall, powerful players with excellent scrummaging technique and pinpoint timing.”

Come on lads, one last throw of the dice, wriggle your way out of it, the site is fake, they are all lying etc..:)

beer, two consortium bidders have offered Mikey boy’s full asking price having completed due diligence. Another bidder, an individual from a famous family, has begun the process of due diligence.

Mikey wants to hold onto a (very small) percentage of the club in his own name.

This is what Online Guy revealed. Sounds like we may still be some way off any completion of a sale but things are progressing positively.

Not radical enough for some, I guess….

Rob, how radical could it get though, really. You either put weight in peoples word or you approach cynically. Personally, I think toon22s stance is more weighty than olgs claims. It has more evidence than a ‘take my word for it’ in my opion like.

Tsunki, we know what a lock is. We know what pasitions 4 and 5 are. We know what a second row is, but your use of ‘ lock second row’ is just never used. It’s like saying ‘centre forward number 9’. It’s just not used. And as jib said, u have never once mentioned rugby here, that I can remember. You’re a spoofer. Stick to bullying guys you can bully. Alternatively, try and talk about nufc, tactics, rafa, takeovers, man u, anything.

    As per Dr Ed Harrison
The purpose of the comments on this blog is to allow Newcastle United fans to express their views on the news of the day concerning our Football Club.

I’m on here looking for matters relating to Newcastle United FC and other football related things of interest to this blog! I have to say it getting rather difficult to sort out the wheat from the chaff on here!
