Liverpool A Really Tough Place To Play – We’re Ready For The Battle

We’ll have to wait about 30 minutes before we know if DeAndre Yedlin has been recalled to the starting lineup for the game at Liverpool this afternoon.

After Yedlin was sent off against Wolves, he was not immediately recalled to the starting lineup last Saturday against Fulham and was a sub with Javier Manquillo keeping his place.

But Yedlin is an excellent professional and has accepted that he needs to fight for his place in the team.

As far as the improvement needed in the Newcastle team, Yedlin pinpoints scoring goals.

That’s been our Achilles Heel since we came straight back up to the Premier League in May of last year.

DeAndre Yedlin scoring at Man City this season – yes!

Here what Yedlin has said about the improvements needed.

“I think that we need more goals. That’s obviously the next big step for us, being able to turn our possession into goals.”

“We’re getting into the right spots, we’re getting chances. It’s just turning them into goals. The teams at the top of the table are obviously defending well, but they’re also scoring.

“But I think there are a lot of positives to take, despite the result. We know we’re going to one of the toughest places to play in England.”

“We know we’ve got to be prepared for it, and it’s a quick turnaround. It’s about getting prepared and getting ready for a battle.”

Rafa wants about four new players brought into his squad next month.

They are a left-back, a playmaker, a winger and yes – another striker – which is what we are after a year ago and also last summer.

It would be good if we could get a top goalscorer in next month – but we doubt Mike Ashley will pay the money for one.

We’ll see – maybe Ashley will shock us all?

One in seven fans thinks we can win this game today.

We really hope they are right!

I agree I think we will win 2 corners both in the last 5 minutes when we are looking for a consolation goal to make it 7-1

Mickey I’m cautiously optimistic. Bladey, today is a day for parking the bus when needed. No harm in that. I don’t want to see us in a shell all 90 mins but with a bit of attack we can do a little damage. Htl

Munster, a draw would be brilliant, a loss by a single goal wouldn’t be too bad, a win would be me reaching for the 12 Year Old Speyside. HWTL.

Wolves 64% possession, can’t score against the worst defence in in the league.
