Rafa has seemed a little more upbeat than of late in these last couple of days – but maybe it’s just me.
He has started talking again about the massive potential at Newcastle United, but it all seems to be falling on deaf ears with Mike Ashley.
Ashley hasn’t invested in Newcastle for almost twelve years now, but he has the gall to ask for £300M for the club and insist that the new owners put big money into the club.
He seems to want Newcastle to be a club with an excellent team – but not while he is the owner.
Rafa is still trying to work out how he can build a good team under Ashley at Newcastle, and it’s proving massively difficult.
Rafa Benitez – we must do things differently
Rafa has said today that if we want to tap into the enormous potential at Newcastle United FC, then we have to do things better:
“We have to do things a bit better if we want to maximize the potential of the club.”
“I was quite clear. You have to be positive and you have to transmit this feeling.”
“I said when we finished 10th: ‘Now is the time to do the right things and maybe we can go higher.’ I still believe it is like that.”
“Why are we where we are? Because we are not doing exactly what we have to do. What does that mean? “
“That we cannot compete or stay up?” “Yes we can.”
“But we have to concentrate on that. If we talk about what we could do or want to do, it will not change anything right now.”
After failing to beat Blackburn Rovers last week in the FA Cup at home and now being only 2 points above the drop zone and with three top six clubs coming up in the next four league games – fans are not too upbeat at the moment.
We need a good shock result to cheer everybody up – and a win at Stamford Bridge this afternoon is precisely what we need.
Rafa and the players must start to get some wins on the board if we are to pull away from the relegation zone before the end of the season.
We only have four wins in 21 league games – last season we had five wins at the same point in the season.
The very last thing we need is for the relegation fight to go on until the final game of the season at Fulham on Sunday, May 12th.
That would be too much to bear.

Comment #3NUFC fans are the gift that keep on giving Mike Ashley. False stances of defiance followed by blind faith and unreciprocated loyalty. Ashley continually kicks the fans and they take it time and time again. A very sad, one sided love affair.

You think it was used to pay agents fees for our superstar signings such as Muto, Joselu, Fernandez, ki, Manquillo & Murphy?

Comment #7Cannot see anything but a loss today. We’re a poor side and although there is plenty of effort there is a distinct lack of quality. It’s depressing so much so I. Of going to bother to watch.

Shearer is hero worshipped in Newcastle, he speaks how he sees it and as soon as he stated facts about Ash and the contract offer he was offered (when Al failed to keep us up) Ashley changes the name of the bar named after Shearer.
The bloke (Ashley) is that one kid who used to stand alone in the playground that all the parents ‘knew would turn out wrong’
Why did we have to end up with him, a whole generation has missed out on the fun going to the matches – because of this lying person.
I suppose the only reason I keep hoping there will be a takeover is I will be gutted if it doesn’t happen – as will we all.
Some on here have suggested no way has Ash used the premier league and transfer profit money to buy his high street shops – I am not convinced. You cannot put anything past this bloke for corruption and/or fraudulent activity. We just hope he is found out. There is £123 million and about £22 million this last year, not counting the merchandise, season tickets, pies, pints, corporate events….
Where has all the money gone !@@
And breathe…..Rant over
DubaiMicky
Fella I totally agree, Sorenson would benefit so much from Shearer to name just one.
I would LOVE IT, LOVE IT if Shearer was back in some capacity.

Comment #11This blog is getting ridiculous. There is very little talk about tactics, the manager or players or fans. A couple of threads ago Toon22 got 7 hearts for telling us that Ashley was ‘mugging us off’. What geniuses need to heart a pointless comment like that, repeated here 50 times a day??

Comment #15Some other eejit was going on about how Ashley’s parents must have known he was going to be a ‘wrong un’. He hardly beats his mother does he? I’m sure the folks are disgusted he ended up at one of Britain’s biggest business successes after they trusted him with a loan years ago. Change the record ffs

Loosing points before Christmas to some dubious defending and dubious refereeing hasn’t been useful. Three points this aftetnoon now very necessary.

Footy is a team game
It’s all very well listing the top drawer players
Serbia and Switzerland have.
It’s the dross they have to make the teams up
with that drags them down.
Argentina are a case in point – they have Messi
and won sfa
Portugal have CR7 surrounded by top class European players
Wolves would have had no problems vs Serbia or Switzerland
Easy to belittle people eh Jib .I suggest you stick to ya bullfighting or google researching what ya quite often f@ck up, Or may I suggest chasing people off the blog for supporting Nufc while being from another country.
Can go all day sunshine with all the sh@te you have chucked at people over the years…Wish to engage??

Comment #33Lochinver, not attacking more against fulham at St James could cost us relegation. In fact I think it will as I think Burnley and saints will pull free. I questioned rafa tactics v Fulham but the taliban applied Raffia law.

Comment #34AND we are back… in the relegation zone. We all knew from the fixtures coming up they would bring us right down there again. On squad basis its pretty correct, we stayed up last time due to hard work and Rafa magic. This year that has all but diminished the squad is just not good enough and Rafa has all but given up just seeing the end of his deal out.
Championship here we come poor Gayle will have to do it all again next year.
