Calcio Mercato are reporting that AC Milan have put a price on their 25-year-old Uruguayan International left-back Diego Laxalt.
The price is said to be around €12M (£10.7M), and the Milan club are willing to consider offers in January for the player who only joined them last summer.
He joined them from Genoa, and the left-sided player can operate as a left back or as a wing-back or as a winger.
The Uruguayan was linked with Newcastle last month, and the report is that Newcastle are keen on the player.
But the player himself is said to be less than keen to join Newcastle.
One look at the Premier League table and he sees us in 3rd bottom place may be one of the reasons for that.
25-year-old Uruguayan International Diego Laxalt
The 13 times capped Uruguayan International only signed for Milan (from Genoa) last summer on a four-year contract, after being at Inter-Milan for three years up to 2016.
He cost Milan around £16M, but he is currently struggling to get first-team starts at the club.
But he has still made 19 appearances for Milan this season.
There is no mention of this being a loan deal, but Newcastle would prefer a loan deal (to lower the initial cost in January) with an option to buy the Uruguayan in the summer if he plays well.
It’s not clear whether Rafa would use Laxalt as a left-back or a wing-back or left-winger as his primary position at Newcastle.
But it seems the first task Rafa has is to persuade the Uruguayan to join Newcastle.
Lazio and Atalanta are two Italian clubs who are also reported to be interested in signing the player.
What do you think?

@ASI FISH its okay to tell the truth mate…..you put the game on pause to nip out and get the SIXTH SENSE and a bacon butty from the NAAFI didnt ya!? lol….
Mwah ha ha that made me laugh mate – in all honesty I found a few NAAFI stamps down the sofa and paused the game to see if there were any more. I found enough for a bottle of Pusser’s Rum, a bottle of Asbach and a crate of Becks lol ?

Comment #10Cant blame him for not wanting to join
we are a shambles, nay disgrace of a football club
Cant compete in PL, cant field a team for the FAC, might as well pack up now.
Seems little point even being in PL to just exist id rather be in tier3 so the fat turd gets flushed away and we may then try to start again and try to win games

Comment #11No self respecting player will want to be part of this.
Even allowing for Ashleys past I cannot believe he is doing this to us yet again.
Benitez had no chance of ever winning a pissing contest with Ashley. No chance whatever,

Comment #15don’t watch much italian football but hes never looked particularly great for Uruguay when ive seen them…
Guessing the way to tread here would be a loan with option to make permanent based on on survival?
If anyone comes in this January it’ll be loans (as it was last january)
Wouldn’t shock me if we took those 2 PSG players on loan, N’soki and Nkunku and that was that! (Nkunku would be excellent IMO)

Comment #17The one and only Uruguayan footballer to ‘play’ for NUFC is Ignacio Gonzales. His signing by Wise and Ashley as a ‘favour’ to his agent is the incident which led to Keegan walking out and taking the club to court for constructive dismissal.
It would be some coincidence if Diego Laxalt turned out to be the last ever signing under Mike Ashley’s tenure.
Not that I’m counting my chickens before they hatch or anything…

Comment #18PSG got a great youth set up and scouting network. Clubs such as ours should be taking advantage of the amount of players they have that can’t get games.
Both n’soki and nkunku would be great. They brought in lo celso a couple years ago, he’s currently on loan at betis as he can’t get enough game time. They played Real Madrid last night and he was the best player on the pitch.

Comment #20Well, My feeling is if any player does not wish to join Newcastle United through his file into the bin or shred it!
We only want players here who are fully committed to the Newcastle cause from the day they arrive until they move on.
Nothing else is good enough!

Comment #21I just feel this club will Rot and Rot year on year unless we get rid of that prick at the top. If there is a acquisition it won’t be announced until February as Ashley will not fund any transfer in January. If we see a flurry of players signing in the next week or two this will give me confidence that the sale has gone through.
