It’s only the third time since last May that we woke up this morning and had the pleasure of recalling our home win yesterday against Cardiff City at home.
The 3-0 scoreline was excellent and helped our goal difference.
We play relegation contenders Burnley and Huddersfield at home, all in five days, at the end of February.
We need to win both those games, and we should be able to continue to rise in the Premier League from our current 4th bottom place.
Rafa Benitez – Newcastle manager
But we do have Man City at St. James’ Park and Tottenham away at Wembley in our next two league games and Watford at home next Saturday in the 4th round of the FA Cup.
After a great win, it’s a good time to take stock of where we are in the league table and who our goalscorers have been – with Schar getting a brace yesterday – his first goals for the club.
Here’s the league table this morning.
Here are the goalscorers.
And here’s’ how we compare with last season after 23 games played – very similar.

So our next goal next Saturday is to show we can keep winning at home and get through to the 5th round of the FA Cup against Watford.
Winning is good for the soul and will also help us survive in the Premier League this season.
