Benitez In Talks To Sign Sevilla Midfielder – Murphy To Go On Loan?

It seems Rafa will be able to sign one of his top targets this month and we expect Jordan Lukaku, who is the younger brother of Manchester United’s Romelu, to take his medical tomorrow and all being well will sign along the bottom line.

Depending on how he is the 24-year-old left-back could even appear for Newcastle in the FA Cup 4th round tie against Watford at home on Saturday.

Rafa also wants a winger and a striker brought in – at least.

But there is news from Spain (El Mundo Deportivo) that Rafa was after Sevilla holding midfielder Ibrahim Amadou on a loan deal.

That’s probably so Newcastle could allow Isaac Hayden to leave the club this month.

24-year-old holding midfielder Ibrahim Amadou

Fulham were also interested in Amadou who is short of first-team games this season.

But while it’s not yet certain, it seems the player wants to stay at Sevilla and fight for his place in the side, but Rafa has excellent persuasive powers when he needs them.

Amadou only signed for the Spanish club from Lille last summer in a £9M transfer on a four-year deal and is having trouble settling in Spain.

The report also says that Sevilla are likely to keep him at the club for the rest of this season.

The player was born in Douala, Cameroon and moved to France at the young age of 4 and lived in Colombo, where he started to play for the local club AS Cheminots de l’Ouest.

He moved to Nancy in 2008 before moving to Lille in 2015.

There’s also a report from Football Insider that Jacob Murphy may be on his way on loan to West Brom, where Dwight Gayle is on loan for the season.

Murphy has struggled since we signed him from Norwich City 18 months ago for £12M and he could be up for sale this summer.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

He would be a good player to sign but at the moment its a bit daft getting rid of Hayden and bringing just him in we need the numbers in midfield!!

Can West Brom get Murphy on loan? Thought you could only loan from one team?

@Lee Charnley, I get what you’re saying but I wonder if it is to do with either a) Rafa honouring a promise and/or b) bringing in a player who wants to be here as opposed to keeping one who doesn’t. Just thoughts.

    Aces
Think the problem they had was thinking being players at the top level meant they can go in to management at the top level. They probably could make it if they started of with a lower team or even youth but seems they weren’t willing to do that. Hats off to lampard, Gerrard, Barton, bowyer etc for trying the way it should be done and earn their stripes.

Aces, not many can mate. I think that’s why owners go back to the same people time after time, despite failures. Its not as easy as people think, which makes Ashley driving Rafa away all the more bizarre. You seldom get chance to hire a really successful one, so when you get one it beggars belief you wouldn’t do whatever it takes to keep him.
Not like Rafa is asking for much – just what he was repeatedly promised; every penny Ashley said.
Instead we’ll probably end up with Sherwood and even if Ashley backs him in the market, there’s little to say he can do what’s required. I can’t imagine any decent manager will come here now after the way Rafa’s been treated.
How, he’s become a billionaire is almost beyond belief, but he has. As the saying goes, better to be lucky than good?

I think the loan of just one player per club only applies in the PL. Think in the Championship it’s two max.

Always liked Jordan Lukaku, he’s lightening quick can play anywhere on the left, strong as an ox and loves getting forward and pumping balls in… Big Rondon might be getting a quality supplier. I think he’ll play left mid/wing and be back up to Dummett as we are well stocked player wise with attacking wide men, but this kids qualityhe’s defensive minded in the way of tracking back and keeping an eye on his man when playing further forward and attack minded by getting up and throwing crosses in when playing left back… Quality player coming in here guys, never in a million years would I have thought we would go for him but a pleasant curve ball it is.

We need a decent option up front to compete with Rondon, that MN runs himself into the ground every game and seeing Joselu as his replacement later in games doesn’t bring that, ohhhhhh factor, someone unpredictable who can change a game at either 9 or 10.

All sounds promising, as long as Rafa rates him it will do for me.

Been thinking about “Rafa can have every penny Generated ” statement…..

Maybe he meant every penny ! As in any 2p 5p 10p 20p 50p £1 £2 £5 £10 £20 (you get the idea) are his but all the 1p pieces obtained throughout the tills Rafa can have !
This way he can actually state he told the truth.
Won’t be far off Rafas spends to be honest.

It’s tomorrow now here now, so very early morning for me.

ashLIE won’t sign people under Rafa’s leadership, they despise each other, I don’t think anyone can deny that, Rafa hates that ashLIE is a liar and a cheat, ashLIE hates Rafa because he has scruples and is a gentleman (and is mainly loved by Toon fans), and has galvanised the fans against him.

We need to make NUFC toxic for ashLIE, we need to protest at every given opportunity, we need a black and white vests protest in Shirebrook. Sadly it’ll never happen, things have changed, as someone said yesterday, something like The Jarrow March would never be allowed or be able to be organised now (imagine, health and safety, various police districts, stopping traffic on roads where they’re marching etc.).

I’m now so dejected to realise that ashLIE won’t leave until he’s bled the club dry and it’s losing money for him, by staying in the EPL, it never will.

Hence doing a scumberland could be the only way that we can get rid of him.

    Hey, Rangers did it.

The Sports Minister says the government “wholeheartedly agrees” that fans “have every right to ask questions of those who run the club”

Been asking the question “where’s our clubs money gone” for years now still no answer.

Yes you can ask questions but no good when they fall on deaf ears.

Wtf…. People are whinging about this guy already?? Not all good signings have to be 20mill plus. In general, especially recently, rafa gets good players. Mind you, some say he isn’t in charge. He may not be the ultimate decision maker but obviously its his choice, although not his first choice. Let’s get a 10 in and maybe another fast winger/striker and hopefully we can climb out. I’m sure rafa is delighted to get another body in.

I think the FA need to look at ownership as well rather than banging the drum about foreign players !

Ashley neglecting the academy for example has had just a detrimental effect on the national game the North East has always provided top quality players but until Rafa has arrived there was no plan in place or attention to the academy and a lot of talent has fallen by the way side.

Longstaff and Woodman could potentially break the mould but we should be seeing at least a player a season make an impact at first team level.

People say boycotts won’t work however

Newcastle fans have been paying £25m a year into NUFC on a matchday alone, even in the championship, I think you’ll find it should be Ashley thanking NUFC fans for keeping his investment afloat, not the other way around.

We put more money in than him

Without us he would need to find 25million a year to put in

    Would he do that ??

Evening lads and lasses, been reading through the blog with my daughter, introducing her to some of the different characters and opinions on the blog, some of the frustrations we all feel. I tell the kids what’s going on at the club, but I always assume they think I go on a bit. This was instructive for her, definitely. Thanks for keeping it (mostly) clean, though you all had no idea she was on.

Her favourite comment? Optimistic Panda’s “I wouldn’t pi55 on him if he was on fire!”

Does anyone also think that we are maybe thinking of letting Murphy go on loan because Roberts is maybe better?

I suppose if you were looking to raise some money for other positions and you had a youth winger who was just as effective and willing to be a back up….

Watched the whole Parliamentary debate by Chi Onwurah. She made a good presentation and asked about regulation and described Ashley’s dodgy dealings with accounts, land purchase at Strawberry Place with no income into NUFC, the amount of linked businesses to the club,Sports Direct ‘club shop’ taking money but nothing into the club, asset stripping, SD advertising with no funds coming etc. etc. but felt that the Sports Minister didn’t really take it too seriously. She offered some token “look into it and come back to you” and some general comments on how fans aren’t being looked after by their owners etc. but I didn’t get the feeling it would really go that much further. Some mentions of Walsall FC and Bury plus discontent by fans at Bolton, Blackpool and Coventry totally irrelevant. Problem is they aren’t being watched by 50,000 fans each game who put hard earned cash into the club with no return.
She also mentioned that Ashley was trying to sell the club which showed her ignorance and it was a pity that Chi din’t get the chance to refute. In addition the female Speaker seemed to think it was all humorous.
Just hope that, as Chi asked, there is a public enquiry into the club accounts and maybe the FA and HMRC have pricked up their ears. We need help fast and from somewhere to rid us of this odious owner.
