You know you’ve no need to wish. As it’s a special occasion, I’m sure Jane’ll be more than happy to let you have her 210 nickers!

Lesh – please please lets not sully todays’ good news items with reminders of Jibs’ licentious lust. He’ll be playing Jane shortly and probably “Just a Fan” to agree with both of them.

I hadn’t noticed before I watched the highlights, but the player who won the ball for us before Rondon’s goal?

    Longstaff.

That Guardiola quote from Lee Ryder above is simply breathtaking. What an endorsement of two young players. Will Diame and Shelvey get back in the team? They’d better hope that Hayden does leave, he’s playing himself bank into form.

Sean Longstaff made his Newcastle United debut this season.

    Since then, he has:

Scored his first senior goal in the FA Cup
Played against Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City
    Beat the league champions
    Pocketed Fernandinho

21 years old and from North Shields.

The stats were wrong, btw – two shots on target for the two goals, plus Atsu’s shot from Rondon’s knock down deflected over the top, plus Rondon’s blocked shot when the ref played on after Longstaff was fouled for the penalty. That’s at least four shots on target.

Minor point, I know, but still.

Did anyone else have the same problem with BT as I did tonight?

Somehow they managed to show is beating ateam which I believe is the best in the country. I know Liverpool supporters will beg to differ but Citeh seem, usually, to just ooze class.

Having conceded in 24 seconds we eventually knuckled down to our task and eventually went at half-time still only a goal down.

At the beginning of the second half I’ll admit that I thought we would be hammered by them, but we weathered the storm. That’s when my TV went on the blink. It showed the toon winning and conveting a penalty before following pressuring a very nervous defence allowing Rondom to score a second goal.

I’ll bet our beloved owner is wondering how he can scupper the Almiron deal.

Ha ha ha, ha! People wonder why we keep going? Because games like tonight make it all worthwhile.
Written off before it even began and doubly so after going one down after 25 seconds.
Anyway, in agony coz I jumped when we scored but couldn’t care less. Added bonus, was so infuriated we were 14/1 in a two horse race I had a wee flutter on the win. Take that sky bet! 🙂 Only 45 quid but well satisfied coz I’m not a big gambler. Also has £2 on 1-0 @50/1 but not greedy.
Away to bed to rest my knackered old bones but extremely happy. Might not be in the morning but hey ho – life’s little pleasures. HOWAY THE LADS.

Wow, some non-SD advertising spotted on the pitchside displays. Still far too much free crap for SD.

If Ashley really wanted to market advertising and sponsorship, all he’s got to do is to replace ALL of the free SD ads with something like ‘This advertising space could be yours……. Contact etc’

Ah, but that requires some desire to bring real money into the club

Not related to the game, but important.

A few of us said that Rafa held all the cards vs Ashley who could not afford to lose him. For a long time, it seemed we were wrong and that Ashley the narcissist would ignore common sense, not sign anyone and dare Rafa to blink first. He didn’t.

Suddenly, assuming we bring in Almiron and Barreca, it seems that Ashley is backing Rafa in order to try to keep him at the club. If he’s starting to invest money in the squad, he has to continue in order to protect the investment. He’s folded, Rafa has won.

I would not want to play Poker with Rafa. Ice cold.
