We have a tough game against Tottenham at Wembley tomorrow afternoon but Tottenham will be without their star player Harry Kane, who is out injured until March.
Spurs are a little off-form at the moment too so it could be a good time to play them.
Another win after the fabulous 2-1 win against Manchester City last Tuesday night will further raise the morale of the Newcastle fans and players alike.
And signing Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca yesterday at the end of the January transfer window was more than we had expected at the beginning of the week.
Spurs’ excellent manager Mauricio Pochettino
Let’s hope our lads can put in another fighting display at Wembley tomorrow and at least get something out of the game.
But yes – it will be very difficult.
Comments welcome.

You’re right, we’re spoilt for choice at CB. None of those players is a liability and it is great to not worry when anyone’s injured. Shame to have to sell someone in order to strengthen up front, but that’s how it probably is.
Going forward we do need serious strengthening, no doubt. But, sometimes a super talented, pacy player can make the difference. So, if we find and buy one such player is probably better.
Sky news headline, now: Newcastle are top spenders in the window.

Comment #3To answer your question, Ed.
If I was offered three points from City Spurs I would’ve gladly taken it. Now, I humbly ask for 4 🙂
But, I want us to go for it, give them a bit of a scare. This doesn’t mean 50-50 possession. It does mean to play like Vs City. ie. When attacking, do so in numbers.
PS. We were unlucky to lose this first game of the season, at SJ.

Any chance you could do a once a week update showing how our loan players are getting on. We’ve got quite a few now. It would be nice to see which ones are getting games/ scoring etc.

Ashley is going all out to retain Rafa… Really? As someone said earlier, when you’re starving scraps are like a 5 course meal.

Many fans would’ve probably taken 1 point.
But, let’s be greedy. Almiron comes on, 70th minute, 1 down. Scores with his first touch. Rondon finishes them off, 92nd minute 🙂

Comment #10Press going way over the too as usual. This is merely scratching the surface of what Ashley owes us in terms of transfers. Almiron on a 5.5 year deal makes me think as soon as his value hits 40m+ he will be gone. Mike has speculated rather than splashed out.
Aluding to the strength of our CBs I would sell Lascelles if we can still get the £20m-£40m figures which were being bandied about last year. Too many injuries and prone to mistakes. That’s of course under the assumption we use the money to sign a replacement and strengthen elsewhere (which we wont)

Comment #14Cyprus Tinman – Almiron can’t even train (classed as work I guess) until he gets his work permit. At the moment he’s in Paris getting some paperwork not sure why Paris?

Comment #16I think tomorrow’s game is a free hit because we would have been happy with a point against City and Spurs but we’ve got 3 already so anything else is a bonus!

Comment #17Martoon- although I agree with you there, why not go all out for the 3 points. Nothing to lose and all to gain. Though I’d happily settle fot 1 point right now. But them being without Kane gives us a great chance to get something out of this. We really have to stop the likes of Eriksen, Son and Lucas and i think we’ll be alright. That Alli fella is a nuisance too so we got to be on our A game and who knows we might pull off another shock.
