Rafa Impressed With New Signing And With Midfielder

Newcastle finally signed Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United for just less than £21M and brought in left-back Antonio Barreca on loan with an option to buy him this summer.

That was on the very last day of the January transfer window.

Almiron is off getting his visa and will train with the team next week and could make his debut at Wolves a week on Monday.

Barreca was training with the team yesterday and according to Rafa did very well.

Antonio is in the squad today, and he could even start the game.

But it’s more likely he will be introduced in the second half as a substitute depending on how the game goes against Tottenham at Wembley today.

Rafa Benitez welcomes loan signing Antonio Barreca

This is what Rafa has said about Barreca and Isaac Hayden who is staying with Newcastle until the end of the season:

“For me, we have two players we didn’t have,” “I’m happier than before. Why? We have two players we didn’t have.”

“Also, Hayden. I had the conversation with him the other day. He was fine. He knew what he wanted.”

“He was a very good professional. He’s quite happy to stay here, and has shown his commitment in the games. It’s another positive.”

“Then you have the other players – you can see they are more positive. They can see. We were training, Barreca was doing well.”

“I was a player. When you see someone new come and he’s doing things right, you think ‘ah right, OK”.

“But that’s good for the team.”

“I think everybody is a little bit happier, we won and we have two new faces.”

Hayden is playing well, and we have a chance to get our third win in a row in the league.

That would really be something!

Fans have hopes we can get something out of this tough game today.

Not like me at all, only realised this morning we were on at half twelve on SKY, at least I’ll get the first half.

    Another 3 points today.

Spurs are there for the taking and we’ve the taste of blood, another top 6 side to the slaughter with a 2-0 win.

    OP,
I think we’re good for a draw anyway despite Spurs not doing them anymore.

Did you see Poch’s presser yesterday ?
He was livid at accusations of not taking
the cups seriously – Spurs will be real

It was announced yesterday 1st February
End of a contract methinks just to keep it sweet.
No point in dragging a legends name through the mud.

I’ve a good feeling today, it’s usually the slimy tw@t Ali we struggle with and he’s out with Kane.

I expect a tough game but the lads will be well up for it, we always perform better away.

Our Wembley hoodoo will be exorcised today!
