Rafa Benitez has said he is happier now than he was last week at this time.
That’s becasue we had a famous 2-1 home win against Manchester City on Tuesday night.
And we also got two good players through the door on Thursday – Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca who could make his debut today against Spurs at Wembley.
Owner Mike Ashley will try to get Rafa to sign a long term deal at Newcastle, but Rafa seems in no rush to sign a new contract.
And we have noticed the potential takeover of Newcastle has gone very quiet of late.
Very quiet indeed.
Rafa said yesterday in his press conference he is not going to sign a new deal just because we have signed Miguel Almiron for a record £20.5M deal.
That’s a pity.
Mike Ashley – posing outside St. James’ Park?
It’s expected now the transfer window is closed they will say that no buyer has come in with Ashley’s price of £300M for Newcastle and therefore he cannot sell it.
The media have concentrated on the takeover since Ashley told Sky Sports back in early December he was near to selling it – he had never been closer to selling the club.
But it seems a little too convenient the news stretched over the January transfer window and the owner brought in only two players on the very last day of the transfer window.
It’s really hard to believe he really wanted to sell the club.
Ashley will be asked about the status of the acquisition now that things have calmed down about transfers.
But in truth, there’s nobody anywhere near to buying Newcastle – much like it was in late November last year.

Comment #4What is so disturbing is to wonder just what “hold” Ashley has over Cook, Kenyon and Staveley to use them as pawns in some twisted PR stunt to protect his own fragile ego.
Either they are all in cahoots for some undisclosed reason otherwise any respectable person would issue statements distancing themselves from the circus and denying involvement.
Of if they are doing Ashley’s bidding what on earth business or personal details are at risk to keep them stum.
Makes you wonder what exactly is going on and even more so why has no journalist checked out the story or are they compromised as well ?
Of course it may all well be above water and we can expect an announcement soon clarifying the position and the sale of the club.

Comment #5I am still living here in Holland in the hope that he is still going to Sell ! I don,t trust him as far as i could throw him! Believe that after last year with Stavely and this year with Kenyon, he had never wanted to sell the Club all along ! Its just an enormous reuze every year to try and avoid giving out Money and bring the Club into the 21st Century? We are stuck in the Nineties, and the past glories of the Fifties with this Dick Head !

Comment #7What make me laugh about the takeover is that all of last year Ashley called the Staveley takeover nothing but a bunch of timewasters despite having 2/3 bids of around £250 million knocked back. Yet Kenyon’s consortium can barely get £200 million together but in Ashley’s eyes their serious buyers despite being even lower than the Staveley consortium. That why I believed that the takeover was lies lies lies. Because why would lower bidders be more serious buyers than higher bidders

Benitez leaves at Seasons end when his Contract is finnished the value of the Club will fall and just who will the Fat Git bring in in his place??? Dennis Wise, Steve Mclaren, Alan Pardue, Steve Bruce, Mark Hughs???? Nothing seems to surprise me with the Idiots running the Club at the moment !
