Newcastle Star – We Need Time To Think

We are starting to get some of our players near the top of their form.

One is Sean Longstaff, but the top of his form seems to go up all the time!

🙂

Fabian Schar is another player who has put in some terrific performances for the team.

The players and fans are getting over a disappointment on Saturday after we were beaten by a late goal at Wembley against Spurs.

But who would have thought we could get 3 points from the last two games – which means we had to have a win against either Manchester City or Tottenham.

2 points would have been excellent.

Fabian Schar in action for Newcastle

So we are not doing too bad at all, with six points from our previous three league games – yet we are still only 2 points above the drop zone and Cardiff City who beat Bournemouth at home yesterday.

Here’s what Fabian has said in the Chronicle today:

“There’s not much you can say really. We played a good game and we had our chances to win it.”

“It is unlucky to concede so late in a game like that.”

“We can take some positives from the week after beating Man City but the frustrations after the game were big.”

“We now need some time to think.”

“It was a good performance against Man City and at Wembley, but we must keep working like this.”

“It’s our way to play.” “We’ll continue being hard to break down and make it hard to play against us.”

Rafa wants to play on the counter-attack which is why he holding center-back like Salomon Rondon who is excellent at holding up play.

And we have now brought in a couple of speed merchants – Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca – who can play in the number 10 role and left wing-back position respectively.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how the two perform at Wolves next Monday night where we need to get all 3 points.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

I knew I’d forgotten a couple of players. Yes, lejeune has a part to play as well as, maybe, Muto. Haven’t seen enough of him to judge.

Kenedy can have a run out too. Not sure I’d buy. Obviously talented, but can have many off days.

Issac Hayden – “It works well; we stick together, we stay compact and we fight for each other. It’s not an individual game……… it’s all about the group as a collective. And that’s what we do so well; we work so hard for each other, and we work hard for the manager, for the club and for the fans.”

Fabian Schar – “It’s our way to play. We’ll continue being hard to break down and make it hard to play against us. All of the players know how important the fans are, at home and away. They’re always there. It’s big thanks to them again, they are the best fans in football.”

Rafa has developed an ‘us against them’ team mentality that feeds off the unrivalled spport of fans.

In an ideal world, you can’t simply approach someone and make him your friend or ur close associate just because he showed you glimpses of good signs or good humor. You have to KNOW who he is,where he is coming from and whether his behavior clicks with your own. Then after, you can be more open and give what you have to give. For some, human behaviors are not good at all. That is why they make pets, like dogs, thier friend and prefer spending time with thier pets.I like pets myself but I get better pleasure interacting humans.
There are some funny and good to be friendly ppl on the blog that you like to interact with. That is one reason you come to this blog.
The problem is, some people or that same person that you like, reverts to something else the next day that you don’t know. That is one thing that I couldn’t figure out and why?
Does it been giving them pleasure?

Gayle would actually be a decent 3rd choice backup for us if we could keep Rondon and say get a striker of Origi / Remy level as the other striker

Then you could have Sorenson as the 4th choice learning his trade from the likes of Rondon and getting the odd run out from the subs bench!

Veltman / Nadeem are you the king of hypocrites? Your first post is unfriendly towards me, the second expresses disappointment over people being unfriendly. Odd.

Gayle could be good back up for Muto with a striker bought as back up to Rondon as a replacement for Joselu. I think Gayle may be part of a deal to sign Rondon permanently however

I think he’ll play the same way. Defence very much first, with the hope that Barreca and Almiron can offer more than we have had breaking on the counter. Same approach that’s been so hard to break down, with a few more flying in the other end.

Oh dear Jiblets, missing the point completely, Joselu cost 5M pounds in an age where the most bang average of strikers like Troy Deeney would cost you 20/25M, did anyone expect him to be a leading marksman.

I suppose with the extra players it will make us a bit more deadly on the counter but we also need to loosen up a bit more especially at home against the weaker teams!

We have the likes of Huddersfield and Burnley at home and we can’t afford to be defensive against them as we need to be getting two wins out of it!

    On this day…

Newcastle United. On 5 February1992, almost eight years after his final game as a player, Keegan returned to football as manager of Newcastle United….

I remember this announcement (Radio) as we drove past Washington Service station, I remember going absolutely crackers (I wasn’t driving)

Also, NOW that Rafa and his team are better at finding players does that mean they’ll be able to find a 5M superstar striker, again with the first choice scenario, for 5M Rafa wanted Abraham for a season, we got lumbered with Joselu for three at much more cost in the long run. If Abraham had of came and flopped then you could criticise the manager as he had identified him as his main target, albeit on loan, they couldn’t even manage that despite Rafa taking time to meet the guy on his wedding anniversary, imagine your frustration when you are told that it’s so late in the window it’s Joselu or nothing then leaving yourself wide open to fair and balanced criticism on social media!

Going back to the subject of Schaer, I noticed he has only signed a 3 year contract where others are on four year or more. Me thinks this lad deserves a longer contract before he attracts a team from the top six or Europe.

Thinks he will get better and better.

Just read that Ben Arafa is sueing PSG for £7m for not playing him, this could open a can of worms with Newcastle. Think of all the other players who if won could end up sueing us for not playing them. Our list is endless over the years.
