Predicted Team For Crucial Game At Wolves

This is a tough one with all our players available except Jonjo Shelvey and Rob Elliot for tonight’s game at Molineux.

Rafa will have to decide whether he starts either of our two new players – Antonio Barreca and Miguel Almiron.

Both are chomping at the bit to get their chance as early as possible.

Rafa also has to decide who plays in central midfield now that Ki and Mo Diame are fit again.

And it’s almost certain Rafa will pay five at the back in a 5-4-1 formation.

Antonio Barreca – could start tonight

We’ll start the two new lads in this Newcastle eleven:

Dubravka
Yedlin Schar Lascelles (c) Lejeune Barreca
Ritchie Diame Longstaff Almiron
Rondon

Rafa could also have Miguel on the bench and either Atsu or Perez starting on the left wing.

But that looks a strong team, and the bench will be very strong too.

Ki, Fernandez, Dummett, Perez, Atsu,  Muto, and Hayden are all available.

What would your team be for tonight’s game?

Hey Ed, that’s the same team I suggested yesterday!

That photo of Barreca has a very happy-looking Manquillo in the background. Surely he knows Barreca is a direct upgrade for his own position. Maybe he’s just pinned a ‘kick me’ poster on Barreca’s back and he’s chuckling at his own hilarity.

Lets just hope if he plays the new lads that they adapt to the Prem fast.

I hope to gawd Jimenez is not playing and we win three one with a Ritchie pen and two assists for Rondon with Doherty pulling back a 95th minute consolation goal with the very last kick of the game 😀

I wonder if it’s possible we’ll see a midfield three of Diame, Hayden and Longstaff, with Lobby free to move up the pitch to link with a more advanced Almiron and Rondon? It would leave us very narrow but give plenty of space for overlapping Yedlin and Barreca to gallop into. It would probably suit Longstaff more being further up the pitch also.

That leaves no space for Ritchie or Perez, who would drop to the bench, if we are playing 3 Centre backs.

@Jib from last thread. Still correct about cover assuming Rafa sees Manquillo as RB cover.

    Ben Arfa/Leguene

Miguel – assume the worst and try to protect yourself at all times as far as is possible.

I’d go with the starting 11 for Spurs but with Dummet at full back and with the new lads brought on as subs maybe Almiron for full second half.

I think it’s important to go in at half time at 0 – 0 (or better)

But hey ho I feel optimistic! 🙂
