Newcastle Have Burgeoning Superstar In Their Ranks – He’s Our Man Of The Match

We were wondering if Sean Longstaff would keep in the team now that both Ki and Diame were fit again.

Rafa kept both Longstaff and Hayden in the starting eleven and both players well.

But Sean had another great game and as we had mentioned recently maybe he will keep his place through the end of the season.

Nothing seems too much for this lad and his skill and performances belie his age of 21.

Sean Longstaff – another outstanding game from the 21-year-old

And of course he’s a North Shields lad and Rafa must be delighted at unearthing such a talent since December when we were short of central midfielders.

Well, we have found one now and Rafa will know how to manage the lad in his development: the relationship between manager and player seems to be first class.

Sean was excellent for us last night and way and above our best player.

We trust his family and the senior Newcastle players will help him keep his feet on the ground, although he is a modest and unassuming lad.

But hey – he looks like a future superstar, who has now started the last 8 games for the team.

It could also help us to keep Rafa at Newcastle; it’s got to be hard for the manager to walk away from a budding outstanding future player not to mention all those adoring fans.

Sean is easily our Man of the Match last night with a whopping 75% of the vote – well done lad!

I know he signed a new contract recently but you wonder whether he will be looking for another one – I can’t imagine he’ll be on anywhere near as much as what a regular first team player earns (I know he is a down to earth lad but pound signs affects us all)!

Someone commented last night that he
was a Michael Carrick doppelganger –
spot on – so reminiscent of him.

I think the only reason the U23s haven’t been talked about is that they haven’t been playing as much. When they have a game they get plenty of coverage.

Also some of the bigger players have been either farmed out (Sterry, Sorensen, Cal Roberts for eg) or have moved into the senior ranks in Lobby’s case.

Genji, I bet the family are proud of Kelland Watts and Owen Bailey. There are plenty other talented kids hoping to break through too, Victor Fernandez, Nathan Harker and Yannick Toure among others.

I think one who will make it for sure is Adam Wilson. Very quick, very skilful, will get many assists and score many goals when he breaks through into a first team squad. He has a good chance of doing it here, time will tell if he’s able to.

Just looked again at the game from the 82 nd minute until they score.
    12 minutes of football.
In that time only twice did we put more than 4 passes together.
Never seriously tried to do anything with the ball.

That leads to pressure then more pressure and mistakes.
We did not see the game out basically.

I realise the game changes in that last 10 minutes. The other side with nothing to loose pile forward and take risks to put extra pressure on.
However, you have to have an answer to it and we don’t.

    Carltoon,

They have high hopes for Mathew Longstaff and supposedly when they were younger Maty got all the rave reviews.

I don’t know the family personally but someone I work with is really good friends with them and by all accounts are a lovely family. The dad played professional ice hockey.
