Rafa Comments On Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle United Debut

Like the rest of the Newcastle fans, Rafa Benitez was not happy after we conceded a 95th minute late equalizer to draw 1-1 with Wolves last night.

Isaac Hayden had scored in the 56th minute, and he played well alongside Sean Longstaff in the middle of the park – especially in the second half when Newcastle came more into the game.

And it looks like we have a real star in the making in North Shields born Sean Longstaff.

Surely he will be called up for the England U21 side after another excellent game for us last night.

It would also be great if we can keep Isaac Hayden at the club past the summer, but that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen.

Rondon and Miguel Almiron last night

Maybe Rafa can persuade Hayden’s girlfriend to move with the baby to Newcastle and buy her a sunlight lamp and maybe some warm woollies – that could work?

Just a thought.

We had Miguel Almiron make his debut last night and after the game, Rafa has these comments on nufcTV:

“I think it’s important to understand what we are looking for, what we want to do. Almiron was giving us energy and fresh legs, and that was important at this time,”

“They did well,” “It wasn’t easy for them, because after they were playing with an extra player.” “They needed to manage the space well.”

“Atsu was helping a lot and the same with Ayoze. It was not easy, but they did well.”

“And also, little by little, we had the composure and the time n the ball that we were looking for to control the game.”

The entire team did well and its just a pity we didn’t capture all 3 points ad we would be a lot more upbeat this morning.

But it is as it is.

So Catchy were we lucky when we beat Man City or Cardiff, you were totally missing then, 7 points in our last four games, 3 of those games were against very decent opposition yet you criticise the manager for a sub in injury time which every manager makes to run down the clock, you hatred of Rafa is going over the top, you only ever post on here now to slag him off, you have never given him any credit this season.

Amazing how all the pundits last night never mentioned how lucky we were, they all seemed to say our tactics nullified and frustrated Wolves, what do they know though, Catchy’s stats are saying they are totally wrong and Rafa is clueless

    Lmao Rob.

are you really going to give Rafa credit for Longstaff? if so you really are delusional.

    let’s work this out.

Ki away, but Rafa didn’t seem to rate him,
    shelvey injured,
Hayden, done ok the last few matches, but been a liability up to then.
    Diame, injured.

Did rafa have a choice in it? he was forced, the way he was forced to play Ki when he did.

from what i have seen of him, lomgstaff is our best DMC and by some way, so why has he not played sooner? when it was a tough choice to make, i would have gave him credit then.

What a shocker from dubravka again, that’s 2 games in a row plus the man utd game. Wolves have really struggled with teams that set up like we did last night, they prefer teams to come onto them, udders proved this when they beat them 3 nil.

The blueprint was already there for Rafa thanks to Wagner, essentially 2 goalkeeping errors last night but dubravka dear me.

I initially thought the ref may have added to much time on, having said that it took us over 45 seconds to make that final sub, time added on was about right.

Football fans forget it’s a minimum of 4mins not 4mins exactly to be added on. On a final note rafa for the love of God drop Perez now and start almiron.

Longstaff best player on the pitch by a long way

I think Jamal didn’t cover himself in glory either for the wolves goal, he just let boly move into an area where he can challenge the keeper for the ball. Our skipper should learn from that and block the player off by standing between him and the keeper

Catchy youd have more credibility if you came on and slated rafa when we win man. At least be consistent with your trolling man.

Not sure why rafa making a sub in the 91st minute is an issue? Rafa did the right thing, made the right change albeit Perez could have come off earlier tbf. The time added on isn’t the issue, it’s a goalkeeping error which resulted in points dropped

Again Catchy what about the Man City game, is Rafa always lucky, was he lucky in the 3:0 win over Cardiff, you don’t come on after wins as all you want is a stick to beat him with, you can’t bring yourself to give him any credit as you hate him that much

Why are folk engaging with catchy, I’m all for free speech, but his speeches aren’t free… They are ‘COSTING’ me my happiness.

Yes last night was ultimately disappointing, but we contained well, we look like we have a stellar player on our hands with Miggy and broke well. We have a 21 year central midfielder taking the world by storm, we don’t get many thumpings with an average squad and we can steal points from anyone with a good work ethos and team camaraderie and in my opinion look like the best of the rest from the teams down the bottom.

As much as the result was disappointing I’m pleased with the teams play is evolving to become more threatening with the added attacking threat in Almiron and Barecca.

Shit result but the sides future looks positive, I really do expect a few more poor performances before the end of the season but that’s where we are under Ashley.

Well done Rafa and the lads, in the grand scheme of things it’s a good point to get, we have no divine right to beat anybody on the road, and to give the game we did last night to a solid side at home gives me reason to stay positive for the road ahead!

Four minutes (5, rather) is usually allocated when there’s been a lengthy stop, plus delay tactics etc. I didn’t see this at all oast night.

The foul on Almiron should’ve been given.

Traore fluffed his cross a bit, Do made a terrible mistake I’m sure he’ll never repeat.

    Destiny, man.

Four certain points dropped this year. Hope they don’t come back to bite us.

On a good note, won 40+ big ones. Maybe others saw my relevant betting post before the game, took a punt and won too 🙂
