It seems every player on the first team squad at Newcastle are now fit and the only player out injured for the rest of the season is goalkeeper Rob Elliot.
And Rafa and a few of his players will be interviewed by the press in Spain today as we approach the friendly game tomorrow against CSKA Moscow.
It seems that Miguel Almiron has been impressive on and off the pitch and the players are getting prepared for the vital run-in to the season.
And Sean Longstaff – the find of the season – is also looking good in training.
Rafa Benitez talks to his players in Spain
Our next league game is a week tomorrow at home to bottom place Huddersfield.
This is what Jonjo has said about Sean Longstaff in the Chronicle today:
“He’s been outstanding.” “I would love to play with him eventually.”
“Being honest, it’s hard to watch someone go into your position and do well.”
“It is hard but, at the end of the day, they’re still your mates as well. I can’t speak highly enough of Longy – he’s been absolutely tremendous.”
“He’s so composed on the ball and for such a young lad, he plays like he’s been there and done it all.
“He’s going to have a fantastic career ahead of him and I’m more than happy for him to keep continuing playing.”
Sean Longstaff is a mature young player and as long as he keeps playing like he has been over the last eight games we cannot see him on the bench.
But we’ll have to see – Rafa will know exactly how to handle the 21-year-old North Shields lad.
Sean can become a top player at his home town club.

Comment #2Top man, we can now spend money on wingers rather than MF. Although maybe another defensive midf if we lose one.

We took Declan Rice
Reminds me of the time we took the northern half of Ireland

Comment #4Yes but only after you had originally supplanted the local population with Scots. Thankfully it wasn’t the northern half as you incorrectly point out, just a few counties. We managed to run your knacker soldiers out of the rest of it. Must have been cool having an empire once. Not any more though 🙂 🙂 🙂
