Newcastle United were after a number of players in January, and we finally managed to sign two of them – Miguel Almiron and Antonio Barreca.
One player Rafa wanted was 19-year-old Liverpool youngster Adam Lewis and Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was also interested in signing the left-back whose contract was running out this summer.
Both clubs failed to sign the players, and there’s news today that he has signed a new four-year deal to stay at Liverpool.
Adam Lewis in the center – exciting Liverpool prospect
And the teenager’s form this season suggests that manager Klopp will soon promote him to the first team squad.
He has played for all the England Youth sides through U20, and he is expected to be pushing Andy Robertson for the starting left back position next season.
He would have been an excellent buy for Newcastle in the summer.
Antonio Barreca will need to impress Rafa this season if the loan deal he is currently on is to be made permanent in the summer.
Rafa has other left-backs he could go after in the summer if Barreca disappoints during his loan spell on Tyneside.
