This Club Could Offer Benitez Everything Mike Ashley Will Not

One thing Rafa may have to give up if he remains at Newcastle is winning trophies.

He has been nowhere near to winning trophies in his almost three years on Tyneside although it didn’t help when we were relegated in May 2016.

That was a big blow and we lost some of our best players that summer.

But with Ashley still in place as the owner, the best he can do if he stays is hope the owner is almost the exact opposite of what he has been since Rafa joined the club three years ago.

Ashley has given him very little money to spend in the transfer windows and the manager has been frustrated by that.

Mike Ashley – Newcastle’s stubborn owner

You cannot build a good team or get near to winning trophies with that policy.

Leicester City won the Premier League rather amazingly back in May 2016 – at the same time we took the drop to the Championship.

And Leicester City are definitely an ambitious club unlike the Mike Ashley owned Newcastle United.

They don’t seem to be that happy with the performance of manager Claude Puel this season and as the Mirror points out today – they could well replace him this summer.

Leicester would be willing to offer everything Mike Ashley will not.

He would get ample transfer funds to bring in new players and the squad is still quite strong.

So if Mike Ashley messes this one up – as he’s done with things before at Newcastle, Rafa could easily make the move to Leicester City.

He would still be close to his home in the Wirral Cheshire.

What Mike Ashley needs to know is that he has to give Rafa a lot of what he wants, to keep him at Newcastle.

His stubbornness may not allow him to do that.

And yes, we hope we are wrong about that.

Your all wrong on the pie chart, cheapest is the one your bring in to the ground wrapped in Tin foil, two things on this, keeps your hands warm and is way cheaper.

this is an excellent post from yesterday that deservedly got 20 hearts:

“Slowly, methodically Rafa is building up selection headaches for himself! Building from the back he first brought in Matt Sels (didn’t work out) and then Dubravka to create more competition at the keeper position. He brought in Lejeune and eventually Schar and Fernandez to add to Lascelles and Clark in central defense, so that we now have 5 very solid CBs. Now he has selection headaches in central midfield with LongSean, Hayden, Ki, Mo and Jonjo! And now with Baracca adding competition for Dummett at LB and Ritchie at LWB and Almiron as an upgrade for Atsu and/or Perez…

It is El Proyecto coming about on a shoestring budget, painstakingly strengthening the club from back to front and inside out! One might think Senior Benítez knows his business well!”

Heard the Wolves captain on the radio this morning, when asked who were the best he had faced? The answer was the ‘obvious’ Man City (his words) and RONDON. Said he was strong, battled for everything and did everything you could want of a centre forward.

I must admit that this improved my own opinion of him, as I would like us to have a really good goal scorer. But if a deal that was suitable for all could be done, not £16M, he will certainly continue to prove his new lease of life.

Plus I think Almiron will be really good for him and I expect the Paraguayan to start every match from now until the end of the season. It will be extremely brilliant if Almiron scores more than 10 too.

There is no leverage available in a one year contract extension, so if Rafa signs on to continue the project are we inevitably in for a long term “difficult relationship”?

    It doesn’t work like that
    Chelsea have a ban
    IF
the appeal succeeds it is then lifted
Real and Atletico Madrid and Barcelona
    all failed with appeals
the only club to succeed with an appeal
is AC Milan and that was a ban on playing
    in Europe not on transfers

I think Chelsea can still sell players so no ban on that regard. I remember when Barcelona were banned, they appealed and bought everyone they wanted in the summer before the appeal failed and thus were banned from making signings.

Instead of a comment folks just heart it.

I make the odd comment now that I think is of interest. It’s like shouting it into a desert. Or perhaps it’s not interesting at all.

On the other hand Catchy comes on and says something to agitate, usually negative about Rafa and ten folks get fired up like somebody has crapped in their kettle.

Does ginger beer count as beer?

Interesting game tomorrow (understatement of the year). It would be nice to see almiron starting and I think he will. Almiron and Perez behind rondon. Think he’ll keep faith with Hayden and longstaff and deservedly so. Ki not fit yet and Diame is what he is, ball winner. Both Hayden and longstaff have done that role well and don’t deserve to lose their place.

Centre backs pick themselves with Ritchie and yedlin at wb.

This one counts, but I’m not sure it counts as Ginger Beer, rather beer which tastes of ginger. It’s very good, too.

41 does seem like abuse of the system but the more players we have out on loan i feel gives us an advantage as it gives more chance that some of them will work out well. i don’t know if this is correct but we seem to have more players out on loan this season than last season.

“Instead of a comment folks just heart it.”

yeah i know it’s not “decent craik” but at least i made an effort!
