Benitez Sings The Praises Of New Signing Miguel Almiron

We don’t know if Miguel Almiron will start the game against the Terriers this afternoon at St. James’ Park.

But one thing is abundantly clear – Almiron has looked extremely impressive in training.

Rafa has said the things the scouts liked about Almiron when they were watching him – they have seen in abundance in training.

He is extremely skillful, extremely fast and has a burning desire to do well at Newcastle – the club he wanted to join for 18 months since Rafa was first interested in the Paraguayan.

Sounds like a perfect player for Rafa to coach.

Rafa Benitez talks to Miguel Almiron in training

Rafa himself has only good words to say about his new signing as he has said this in the Chronicle today:

“To be fair, in the last game, the team was doing well.”

“Now it is a difficult decision because everyone is training well and is available. If he is playing the fans will say ‘Good, the new player is playing’.”

“And if he scores a goal it’s a great decision and if not, they will say ‘Oh, why is he not playing?’ Then you have something to talk about.”

“Now is a time when we have to decide about things like leaving players out. You do not like to do it but you have to do it.”

“I think he is exactly what we were expecting and what we were looking for.”

“Almiron is very dynamic and he has pace. We were surprised he has very good stamina.”

“He has the movements we were looking for so I think it is all fine.”

“Now we have to see how he settled down in the Premier League with the pace and the physicality.”

“Everyone we saw when we were watching him, we have seen exactly the same in training sessions.”

We’d love to see Almiron start this game today.

Alternatively, start Almiron to cause Huddersfield maximum stamina depletion and sub him at 60 minutes for the benefit of an Atsu late goal.

We need to start fast, on the front foot, harrying them and, hopefully, getting an early goal.
Almiron will contribute to this, so, for me, he should start the game.

We ain’t Man City or Liverpool, we can’t afford to let 20 Million sit on the bench, let the 5 – 10 odd Mills sit.

Today war of the animals, Magpies V Terriers.
