Players Knew Immediately Almiron Could Be Something Special For Newcastle

Newcastle fans could hardly have asked for a better start to Miguel Almiron’s career at Newcastle than he has produced.

Perhaps scoring after 13 minutes when he was straight through on goal against Huddersfield could have been a little better.

But the Paraguayan has shown with his speed, skills, and know-how that he can unlock Premier League defenses for Newcastle.

He has fitted so well into the Newcastle team almost immediately.

And the 3-4-3 formation Rafa used on Saturday in the vital 2-0 win against Huddersfield seemed to work so well, with lots of chances created.

Both Perez and Rondon had excellent games alongside Almiron with Newcastle youngster Sean Longstaff Newcastle’s best player once again.

Fabian Schar – Almiron can be an important player for us

Fabian Schar has been interviewed in the Chronicle today, and he has said the players knew Almiron was something special when they first saw him in training:

“We have seen since his first day he has some qualities and he can be a very important player for us,”

“He made a really good debut at home. He didn’t score, he was a little unlucky but we could see his qualities and hopefully he can help us in the next few games.”

“We have some pace in front, not only him. He has only been here for two or three weeks and he knows what runs he has to do already.”

“He is an intelligent player and, with his pace, he can do a lot of things.”

“It is great to play here in front of our fans, they can push us a lot. We always want to give them something and the last few games have gone quiet well,” Schar said ahead of the Burnley clash.

“We try to do keep doing that. We have an important game on Tuesday and we will try to do the same as against Huddersfield.”

“We don’t look too much at the table, but we know how important Tuesday’s game is, not only for us but for Burnley as well.”

“I think it is a big chance for both teams.”

It will be interesting to see what team Rafa starts today, but he has to be tempted to start the same team as began the game on Saturday.

But there again there’s only been a couple of days rest for the players.

We’ll know around 7:00pm tonight when the team is announced.

Who to mark, Burnley? Almiron, the speed demon? Foxy Perez or the big man?

How about Hayden or Sean? That Schar guy? The big defenders on set pieces? Ritchie with the bullet left foot?

    Wily Kenedy?

My only slight concern with Almiron, and it is slight, is that he is so left footed, did he touch the ball with his right foot, defenders could at PL level exploit this, could be something for him to work on, having said that with such blistering pace and what at first viewing seems to be a good footballing brain then it is quite possible that this flaw never arises.

Kennedy’s strike on Saturday was awesome, if that had gone in I think I might have dropped my mess tin ruining my bacon grill.

If Kennedy can get back to the player he was will he have a chance to play with Miggy here now and Richie playing the WB?

Its a shame how this season has turned out for him because at one point he was worthy of ruining bacon grill….
