Rafa’s New Deal Includes Top Wages – But Clauses To Break His Contract

There’s a report in the Chronicle today from Mark Douglas that Mike Ashley is willing to make Rafa the best-paid manager out of the top six clubs in the Premier League.

Currently, we believe Rafa is on around £6M/year, and it could likely be more than that – but he’s worth every penny he earns at Newcastle.

The contract Rafa signed almost three years ago contained financial penalty clauses if he broke his contract.

And it’s thought to have been one year’s wages – around £6M – if he walked away from Newcastle.

The Chronicle is reporting that to keep Rafa on Tyneside, there wouldn’t be any financial penalty clauses in his new contract.

And there would be break clauses that would allow Rafa to walk away without any financial penalty.

Presumably, that would allow Rafa to walk away if Mike Ashley doesn’t keep his side of the agreements documented in the contract.

Rafa Benitez – will get a top wage to stay as Newcastle manager

It doesn’t appear he has done that over the previous three years with Rafa frustrated at the lack of transfer funds he’s received.

Rafa has never ever broken any contract he has signed in his football career, and we hope that Mike Ashley is more flexible and gives Rafa what he wants to stay at Newcastle.

After all, what the manager wants is to make Newcastle into a top English club with a top team to match.

Why wouldn’t Mike Ashley want the same thing and increase the price he can get for Newcastle United down the road?

And Rafa Benitez knows exactly what he’s doing.

These changes look promising, but as we said, the owner must give Rafa more funds to spend and come up with what he is willing to do on all of Rafa’s specific demands.

Some fans will think it’s dangerous to allow Rafa to walk away from Newcastle without any financial penalty, but it’s a lot better than him not signing a new deal to stay at the club.

And it also seems these contract talks are so crucial that Mike Ashley himself should be part of the discussions with Rafa and Lee Charnley.

They are that important to the future of Newcastle United FC.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

    Youll like this JIB

This could have serious consequences for the audit client. There is a reason for legal privilege – a company needs to be able to tell its lawyers everything, including information that should be kept private and confidential. And so-called ‘regulatory gateways’ may mean the information gets passed to other regulators. Concerns over retaining privilege in short are real, not “technical”.

The HMRC are chasing after the “undisclosed payments” to his brother

    Iirc thats tax evasion

Tax evasion – A summary conviction can be for £5000 or six months in jail. The maximum sentence for tax evasion in the UK is seven years and an unlimited fine.
Providing false documentation to HMRC – a summary conviction or via a magistrates court. The maximum UK penalty is a fine for up to £20,000 or a six months prison sentence.

You think the HMRC will go easy on him after all the efforts they have put into catching him ?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

The figures will also be impacted by prosecutions relating to the two new corporate criminal offences which came into force on 30 September 2017 once these begin to work their way through the courts, as HMRC has made it clear that it intends to actively investigate companies suspected of having committed these offences, Tocewicz said. These offences are applicable to companies and partnerships which fail to prevent their employees and other associated persons from intentionally facilitating tax evasion, even if the senior management of the business was not involved or aware of what was going on.

Unbelievable that Jib would jump on the ITK Bandwagon after all the speculation and subsequent disappointment we have had to endure from bloggers claiming to have secret sources with news on the takeover.
Jib’s secret source from someone in the legal profession who has restricted him from sharing the information seems very hard to believe for many reasons . Therefore if there is any truth / accuracy in his statement then he really needs to display some loyalty to the long suffering fans on this blog where he has invested a lot of his time and energy.
