Spanish U21 International Ayoze has had a new lease on life since Miguel Almiron arrived on the scene last month.
And it seems Ayoze along with Salomon Rondon have a good understanding already with the 25-year-old Paraguayan International.
Indeed, we are more dangerous up front than we were – even though we were blunted by West Ham on Saturday in the 2-0 loss at the London Stadium.
Perez has joined the chorus of calls for Rafa to be signed up long-term as manager of the club.
Rafa Benitez talks to compatriot Ayoze Perez
This is what Ayoze Perez has said about Rafa in the Chronicle today:
“He’s been really important for us.”
“He has done a lot for Newcastle and we have to be thankful that we have got him, after what he has done for the club.”
“Obviously, he is a part of what we are doing here.” “Last season we finished 10th – that means something.”
“Hopefully we can do the same this season as he is doing a great job.”
“He always stays calm and obviously we have to look after him.”
“Having Rafa as a manager is very important and if you have Rafa on the bench things are going to go well.”
Rafa will not entertain talks with Ashley and Charnley until Newcastle are safe, but that could be soon if we can get a couple of wins under our belt.
Rafa wants to stay on Tyneside, but he also wants cast-iron assurances from Ashley on transfer funding, a simpler and quicker transfer process, improvements to the training grounds and investments in the Youth Academy.
These are assurances Rafa needs from the owner to make Newcastle into a top club and a team to match.
Why wouldn’t Ashley support that – it’s not that Rafa is unreasonable in his demands?
Comments welcome.

Comment #82Iv no problem with anyone saying Beardsley is, was, a bad coach ..it’s your opinion fair play.
I would like anyone to look at the bigger picture though and see who comes through to the first team who benifited from Beardsleys long term development of any young player.
That’s the way to view it to be fair to the man.
Imagine if you will ( Count Arthur Strong Moment) a first team with 6 or more players in it that Beardsley brought through . What will be said of him then ? It’s likely to happen.

Comment #84I’m not Ron. I’m suggesting an alternative to Munsters assumption that a blaggard racist has got away with a sideways posting. I know nothing about the kid. It’s hypothesis.and it’s a better one than Munsters imho given the actual transpiration of things.

Comment #89Beardsley took his Eufa A coaching license while on his years gardening leave, and no doubt has taken plenty of time to reflect too. I think the club behaved correctly and Beardsley will hopefully become a better coach after all of this, continue to give back to the game he graced so brilliantly, and even return to his and our club in some capacity in the future. My favorite all time Newcastle player. A genius on a football pitch. All the best Pedro.

Comment #91OLG……….. Firstly re. Beardsley being given the credit for bringing Longstaff et al through . Longstaff has only really become prominent since Beardsley was suspended. Regular beatings for the under 23’s was hardly a good example of Beardo’s coaching skills so although he was a great player he achieved very little as a coach.
With regards to your source and your promise to give a detailed explanation of why the takeover didn’t happen should it collapse, it looks like Jib is claiming pole position in that race.

Comment #92Yes your analysis is marvellous. A kid complains about bullying and racial comments. Other players make smaller noises. The club ignores it, unlike any modern smart organisation. The fans decide a club legend cud never say a racist word, despite the player outlining exactly what he said. None of the players stick up for beardo. We decide the kid is pissed off cos he doesn’t have a Land rover so he decides to make a gross accusation which will mark him out as a trouble makers, just for fun. I think we shud demand more from the club and I’ll bet it will be investigated. Meanwhile let’s see if beardo sues for defamation.

Comment #95Online may as well give credit to Beardsley for mbappes development since he wasn’t involved with him either. Longstaff perhaps as he worked him but Toure came in after Beardsley went on gardening leave and I’m pretty certain Matty longstaff wasn’t anywhere near the u23s under Beardsley. May be wrong on that end but to my knowledge Beardsley only dealt with the reserves/u23s and he will have been 16/17 then. Sorensen picks up form after he leaves and admits he just feels settled in Newcastle now.
If you want though you can make it a left, right thing, or an up down thing or forward back thing. Unless you’re not a ‘snowflake’ like Dubai then by all means, use a kid you don’t know and make it a political thing. Focus on racism issue and forget the bullying accusations too.
At the end of the day, this is a second time an issue like this has come up. Not saying he’s guilty or innocent but doesn’t look good but nobody knows any of the details. Acting like you do know, or blaming one side or the other and even writing history to defend someone does nobody a disservice.

Mourinho at Man U, with his dower negative moaning sour faced dire football for the past 3 seasons should be lauded as the real reason in the upturn in form? And not OGS for letting his players play with smiles on their faces?
That’s basically what you’re saying when you state Beardsley should be thanked for Sean Longstaff coming through the ranks and any others that make the leap. Balderdash!

Comment #99The club have to announce the results of the hearing re Beardsley and have been criticised for being so tardy in dealing with the matter. This month/next month who knows when they will make an announcement.
I think we can be sure that no cash payments are involved to make the problem go away – so to speak.
Should note as previously posted by someone else – other players came forward to support el MHanni.
We are just going to have to wait a while longer for the club to announce their decision.

Comment #109That’s not very good reading tbh…
At the end of the day, these are just kids and they need looking after and nurturing.
As it stands the FA will be looking into the findings of the clubs investigation. I don’t think we have heard the last of this just yet.

Comment #113A couple thoughts:
Before anyone says VAR got it wrong or right, it’s the handball rule that needs to be looked at. On that game, inexplicable, a lucky miracle for a very poor team.
Beardsley: his statement should have included a categorical, ‘I’m not a racist’.
Four pictures ago, those two ladies are Newcastle players?

If the FA are to investigate it seems a strange time to sack him

Comment #115Just realized the other game ALSO had a major and difficult VAR decision.
These were both controversial, admittedly. VAR will show its true colours when it reverses big refereeing clunkers, not in these instances.
But even in these, the ref gets a chance to have another look. That must count for something.

Comment #116Last comment. VAR must be based on a limited number of challenges (eg. 2 per team, you wanna challenge a foul call in the middle of the field, be my guest), I think. Or else we’ll have VAR moments all the time!
I fully support it, but it’s real messy now. I’m sure it will be fixed…
