We had thought if Sean Longstaff has damaged his knee ligaments it would be really bad news for the 21-year-old.
And today, talkSPORT are reporting that Sean will be out a full four months with the injury.
He saw a specialist yesterday to review the scans he had taken on his knee earlier in the week and it seems the knee ligaments are damaged.
So if this report is true he will be lucky to be fit when pre-season training starts in early July.
Sean Longstaff – out for four months?
It just shows you how things can change quickly and be so up and down in a football career.
Rafa Benitez will probably answer questions on the injury at his press conference tomorrow but if this report is true it’s the worst-case scenario for the talented youngster.

Comment #1I don’t think Snodgrass connected with Longstaff’s knee in that tackle so suspect that any injury is a tear from over stretching trying to reach the ball. Whether he was just a tad of the pace having played a number of games or it was just a misjudgement in the heat of the moment thinking he could reach the ball first is not really that important. Just hope that his rehab and physio will be first class.

Comment #2here’s hoping he will bounce back stronger . ready to go for next season. so who steps in to midfield …
me i’d go with KI and Diame . bit harsh on Hayden i know . but its horses for courses . and maybe Shelvey if he’s fit to come on sometime in the second half to ping some of his ” HOLLYWOOD PASSES ” for Almiron and Rondon …
hope Rafa stops playing Almiron out wide and plays him just behind Rondon …

Comment #3Gutted for the lad ! Hes been quality since he came in and was great to see a local lad doing the business!
Big chances for Shelvey and Ki to get back in and prove their worth now though I suppose just wish it wasn’t in these circumstances!!

i think playing 3 games in a short space of time may have had a bearing on the lad getting injured as well as the tackle he put in …
