Newcastle To Bid Big Bucks For Top Striker – Rafa’s Future May Depend On It Being Successful

The Sun are reporting today that Newcastle will attempt to sign 22-year-old Brazilian striker Joelinton this summer – he currently plays for 1899 Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.

We have been linked with the striker for a few weeks now, and he will cost a lot of money.

The Sun reports we are willing to offer £40M for the striker – which would be a record transfer fee for the Magpies.

This season he has played 30 times in all competitions for Hoffenheim and has scored 9 goals, and he also has 11 assists.

Joelinton – 22-year-old Brazilian striker

Rafa has asked Mike Ashley and his people to show their ambitions for the club, and we suppose this is an attempt by Mike Ashley to show Rafa he is willing to support him in the transfer market.

But maybe Rafa wants this deal approved before he signs along the dotted line to stay at Newcastle beyond this summer?

Joelinton has been in impressive form for his German club this season after his impressive form in Germany.

The 22-year-old completed a two-year loan stint at Austrian club Real Wien last summer; he played a total of 79 games with 21 goals and 9 assists for the Austrian club.

We expect Rafa to want to know exactly how far along a possible deal is for Joelinton.

And it would not be too surprising if Rafa does not sign a contract extension for Newcastle until a deal is signed to bring the Brazilian striker to Tyneside.

There will be competition from some big clubs for the Brazilian.

What do you think?

This is in the Sun but even if there is some truth in it I don’t think one signing is going to sway Rafa – surely he is looking for a long term strategy which includes transfers but also improving the infra-structure such as the training facilities.

If were going to daydream about buying players like Joelinton, which is what were actually doing as theres no chance with MA wanting to buy all sorts of shops

Cant we add Bale to the list ?

Im sure someone can come up with a load of made up rubbish to link him too us

Would Rafa have Rondon as his first choice if he had a proper budget to spend?

This boy looks like a younger version of Rondon but with more pace and potentially could go for a crazy fee after a few years although it would be amazing if we had Rondon and Linton as our front 2!!

Rob – all I’m saying is that fatigue COULD be an explanation.

Watched Joelinton on TV live playing for Hoffenheim. Wasn’t too impressed. Likes a good gallop forward and a big strong lad but spends a lot of his time hovering in midfield. Not an out and out striker up front in the Rondon mould I’d say. I know its difficult and wrong to judge on one match but for a £40m outlay I think we could do a lot better. Mind that’s not to say that Ashley would ever consider that kind of expenditure on one player.
He’d have a nosebleed if Rafa asked for that kind of investment.

If this is true, Then this will be a massive test for Cashley and if completed will be a massive victory for Rafa and the team.
For once Cashley, Do the right thing.
