Rafa Benitez Adamant Newcastle Could Lose Energy

Whenever Rafa is asked about his future and whether that will be at Newcastle he always says what he is concentrating on is ensuring that everybody associated with the club are only thinking about being safe in the Premier League.

He doesn’t want his players to be thinking about whether he will be here next season or not – he wants them to concentrate 100% on winning the game at home to Everton On Saturday.

Some of our players were lax in their concentration in the first half at West Ham last Saturday afternoon.

And we paid the price for that with a 2-0 defeat after conceding two poor goals in the first half.

Rafa Benitez – on the training pitch

Rafa was again asked about his future today, and this is what he told the Chronicle:

“It’ll be easier to talk about that once the team is safe.” “I don’t want the players to lose focus on the games.”

“We have to try to get three points and be sure we are safe.”

“It could be sooner or later, but let’s not talk about that because we will lose energy.”

Yesterday we had compatriot Ayoze Perez plead with the powers that be to take care of Rafa, so he stays long-term at the club.

And today American international Yedlin is a big fan of Rafa’s and wants the Spaniard to stay on at Newcastle:

“I think it’s very important.” “I think everyone has seen how he has brought the city together.”

“Even though we may not have started the season the best, we’ve ended it very well so I think, yeah, it’s very important.”

“As we all know, all the fans love him, the players love him and it would be great if he stayed.”

Here’s how we stand today before the weekend’s games.

I don’t think Mr Rutherford I’d being entirely honest with us there. The seats in the Platinum club are knackered with long gone people’s names on, billboards advertising games a year old with players that aren’t here anymore. The place is in rack and ruin.
    Oystons Out!!!

I think OLG was Rik from the Young Ones in a former life and Jane was Pink, not the pop and rock starlet but some paint discarded on an easel.

Yedlin needs to be playing, although manquillo has done alright too. His speed, together with Almiron’s, will cause concern. He inexplicably lost his place, I think. He’s out of position sometimes, but that’s because he’s just been on the other side of the pitch.

And, anyway, he’s learning. The added bonus is that he can break up counter attacks, again due to his speed.

    Conclusion: play him.

Now there’s an idea for Newcastle United , Newcastle top in Europe.

Wonder who will take over from Ashley at Sports Direct when he leaves for Debenhams ?

    Cyprus,
Not sure what’s up with Yedlin but the fact that Manquillo is his only competition reinforces my point that both Yedlin and Dummet need better full backs than themselves brought in to push both the squad and themselves on. The “prospect” Barreca is and was only brought in to make up the numbers.

The Oystons are finally winkled out of Blackpool eh? Hang on – something’s not right – aren’t they one of the prime examples of how futile fan protest is and how nothing is achieved by solidarity, self – sacrifice and determination? Surely there’s some contrived and specious way this can be explained away as being achieved by other means? Surely?

The prospect of Ashley’s protĂ©gĂ©, his son-in-law, taking the reins at SD and NUFC had crossed my mind. Didn’t he (the Ashley clone) have a hand in talks with PCP?

And won’t he go all out to prove he’s a worthy successor to Ashley?

    Worrying…

Having a successor in the Ashley dynasty take charge at nufc certainly jams a stick into the spokes of that theory that one day we will be free of Ashley by virtue of the passage of time.

Not wanting to put too much of a frog like stamp on things but it certainly begins to look very much like Ashley (or a clone of his) will not move out or be removed easily. He’s very much in this for the long haul and will continue to blow chaff out of his rear end while we buy the shirts and pies ad nauseam.

    Lesh,Tsunki,
Very scary thoughts. Stop the thinking there before the universe clocks on and plays it out.
If we all do nothing about this shame on us all.
At the end of the day we will only have our selfs to blame for doing nothing to stop the man.

People say dont feed the frog.
I say dont feed the fat man with your money.
Take away his money let him starve, itll take a while but it will work.

If Rafa isn’t convinced to stay then it officially rubber stamps the fact that nothing is ever going to change. I will not be going back and whoever may wish can quote me on that. But I think the very least those still willing to go can do is refuse to spend money on merchandise and catering.

Jail @83 For a change we sat in the Platinum for the pre-season friendly and you’re right the seats are very tatty. Where I sit in the Leazes Sports Bar the seats are better but there is a hand drier in the gents that has been broken for 2 seasons – I’ve reported it several times.

Online Guy could have been……. Zaphod Beeblebrox, the two-headed president of the Galaxy, and Ford Prefect’s distant cousin. Zaphod is purposefully suited for the role of president because the job requires a person who is “controversial,” somebody who is both “infuriating” and “fascinating.

But where would that leave Jib, Jane and Just a Fan? Marvin, he of a brain the size of a planet……..?
