Rafa had talked about over-confidence before the West Ham game last Saturday, and we were asleep for most of the first half.
Maybe some of our players through they could sleep-walk their way to win the game.
But it turned out to be a big let-down for everybody and West Ham were much the better side – especially in that first half when the game was lost by Newcastle conceding two sloppy goals.
Rafa had hinted before that game that he was concerned about over-confidence but he is clear that will not happen tomorrow.
But the players also need confidence for us to get the result we need tomorrow – another win – which would be our 9th win of the season.
This is what Rafa (shown above in training) said in his press conference earlier this afternoon:
“I was probably the most disappointed after the West Ham game because of the way we conceded the goals.”
“The mood of the players is fine. If you make mistakes, you have to analyze why, but we still need to have confidence.”
“I was trying to avoid over-confidence in the group before the West Ham game but sometimes you can’t.”
“We won’t make the same mistake. Everton is another final for us. We did well at Goodison Park, we played well.”
“But they good players and it will be a tough, tough game.”
