Alan Shearer Reacts To Amazing Newcastle Comeback And Terrible Referee Blunder

Alan Shearer responded on Twitter to a fabulous last 25 minutes comeback with Newcastle 2-0 down.

And then we scored three goals in the final 25 minutes to win the game 3-2 – our 5th successive win at home.

A goal by Rondon after 65 minutes and a brace from Ayoze Perez in the final 10 minutes.

And referee Mason made a terrible blunder in the first half after he awarded a penalty to Newcastle after a foul by Pickford on Rondon.

But the goalkeeper should have been sent off – but he stayed on and saved Matt Ritchie’s penalty.

There are far too many of these poor referee calls creeping into the game.

Let’s hope with VAR next season they are cut out.

This was a wonderful and gritty 3 points for the lads.

We’re proud of them.

Ayoze Perez scores for Newcastle

This is how Shearer responded.

On the midfield, Shelvey seemed to get more license to be free when he came on, Hayden and Ki were working similarly to Longstaff and Hayden as an axis and as pivots, splitting responsibilities. Unfortunately for Hayden, I think to get the most out of Shelvey, Ki and /or Diame, then it needs to be 2 of those 3 with Hayden missing out. Shame for him, but it hass to be about what works best within the team.

Need to sign Rondon up whatever it takes. No fannying around with free this and clause that just pay the proper whack and get him in. Pay over the odds if need be just get him in.

I seriously don’t think the refs know the rules nowadays which is shocking but shows wat happens when you meddle with them to much gonna be a nightmare once these rule makers (anoraks) get VAR

On his two-goal hero Ayoze Perez: “This team is important. The link between Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon, if Messi was doing that everybody would be talking about the goal.

“The players deserve to win these five games [in a row at home].”

The type of game we dream about …perfect script.
With hindsight pleased Pickford Wasn’t given red as we would have missed his face at the end .

    Hail,
I’ve never had a problem with Dummett, he was vastly underrated, and solid/dependable in his position. If we were to sell him, I doubt there would be a shortage of Premier League sides interested. Ritchie is a fading talent, but I think he brings more to the team than just his footballing ability – which in fairness to him, is far from as bad as many make out on here. Schaar being suspended could give Dummett the chance to stake a claim for a starting spot, but I can’t see it being Ritchie sacrificed.

Rondon is a sort of player who’d be massive for us even at 33. He’s a beast. Just sign him.

    Hail,
As for how Dummett was perceived earlier in the season, I haven’t been on here much at all, and have not followed or watched as closely or with as much interest over the last year or so, so if the tide of opinion towards him changed, then that’s great for the lad.

To be honest I thought we were dead and buried when we missed a penalty, and then conceded a second moments later.
However, I had not taken into account the steely nerve and resolve to first get back onto level terms and then to go ahead and then hold on to win it!
Magnificent performance in the second half. Not sure about the ref though. Roll on VAR.

Dummett was so unlucky not to score hell of a shot and hell of a save thankfully we scored straight after
Thankfully we have a good choice of defenders for once Fernandez has been unlucky not to play

Correct Lil, loads of guys berate perez but he is a tidy player. Rafa loves him and was never going to drop him for Miggy. People won’t hear even 4 negative word against rafa, but won’t accept his live for perez. Go figure.

Sounded like the place was rocking 2nd half, love it when its like that.

Thought we looked so mich better going forward when we went to 4 at the back. Shelvey for me should be in now, his passing is still heads above anyone else, espec with Miggy to aim for now.

I think today does ask the question though to Rafa, if we can do that well going forwards when we have no other choice, why not be more attacking from the start of matches and not just when our backs are to the wall? Today we showed that deapite the lack of spending compared to others, we can still take it to other teams in the league when we go for it.

Thought Dummett played well, gave the team more balance with someone on the left who could bring the ball out.

Personally with Schar out now id go to a back 4 again to put less pressure on the CBs to have to play the ball and bring Jonjo into CM. Lascelles and Lejeune were awesome last season playing together as a 2.

Oh and Gateshead won again. Good day all round.

What a great game and result which we thoroughly deserved. Only downside for me; I put a tenner on a draw at half time at 6/1
But this result is one we dream of!

We never get a decent game when you are in charge.
