Ki Sung-yueng And DeAndre Yedlin To Start – Two Changes

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez had just announced his team to play against a good Everton at home this afternoon.

Rafa is hoping it was a one-off last Saturday at the London Stadium when we didn’t play well and lost the game 2-0 to West Ham.

Ki Sung-yueng starts in place of the injured Sean Longstaff

And for once it seems we got the team right in our prediction.

Ki comes in for Sean Longstaff and Yedlin comes back for Javier Manquillo – who is on the bench.

Jonjo Shelvey and Mo Diame are also both on the bench as is winger Kennedy.

About half our fans think we can win this game today – let’s hope they are right.

Team has a good balance. Ki has big boots to fill after Longstaffs recent performances.

I actually agree with I love toon for once, first time for everything. Head says we will be beaten 1-0, or 2-0. Our recent record against them is horrendous even when we have played alright we’ve lost to them.

The difference is though between me and I love toon, I would absolutely love to be wrong on this. Can’t say the same for the other poster!

8788 – What has Muto done to deserve a start? He’s done nought for us and was average in the Asian cup for Japan

Match day at last and only an hour to go! Ki alongside Hayden should be interesting, glad Yedlin is back in the lineup. Peeved that Joselu is on the bench instead of Muto AGAIN!

Another 3 points and we are almost across the finish line. Come on lads put on a good show and let’s finish this season on a high.

    HWTL!

I support Rafa (obviously) all the way – but one decision I absolutely cannot agree with is not having Muto even on the bench.

Are you telling me Joselu is a better option to have on the bench than Muto? If we are losing at home and we need to put some attacking threat on from the bench to increase our chances of scoringh a goal – are you telling me that putting on Joselu will be better than putting on Muto?

Would Joselu have scored the goal Muto scored at Old Trafford? I can’t remember the last time Joselu actually scored a goal.

Furthermore, Rafa not even having Muto on the bench when he was the one player he spent any real money on last summer is not a good reflection of his transfer choice.

Muto on the bench instead of Joselu – and that is a strong starting XI and strong bench.

    NYCmag,
Enjoy the match and the pre and post game “festivities”! If you have another day in the Toon I would highly recommend the SJP stadium tour as you will get to go into the home team changing room, walk down the tunnel and out onto the edge of the pitch…lots of stories and other things as well.

I’m going to counteract 8788’s prediction with a 2-0 Magpie win! Almiron to open his scoring account!

I think Rafa has the idea of balls whipped into the box with yedlin back in, hence joeslu on the bench.

Very happy with the XI, exactly what I would select.

Perhaps a bit hasty of me after last weeks flat performance to say we’re out the running for 10th. A win today and we’re right there, anything less and we are out of it for sure.

Expecting much more energy and intent today.
