Rafa – Important For Players To Feel The Support Of Our Fans

After 65 minutes Perez brilliantly set up Newcastle’s first goal for Rondon with a Messi type pass to Rondon in the penalty area.

After that, the Geordie fans played a massive part in the unlikely but thrilling 3-2 win after we were amazingly 2-0 down after just 32 minutes.

Perez brilliantly played the ball to Salomon Rondon who from an angle on the left hit the ball on the volley with his left foot into the back of the net.

The ball went just under England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford with a slight deflection.

A well-taken goal from the Newcastle number 9.

And then Ayoze Perez kept center-stage with two opportunist goals in the final 10 minutes of the game.

A terrific assist and two goals – what more can you ask of the Spaniard?

It was a huge win for Newcastle and keeps us a full 6 points above the drop zone and Cardiff City in 3rd bottom place.

Rafa was clear that the fans played an important part in the win yesterday:

“It was important for the players to feel the support of the fans.”

“And also for the fans to see the players believing, running and working so hard, so both things were really positive.

“Scoring the first goal, they believed that we could score and I think Everton were a little bit scared at this time.”

“And then we were maximizing our attacks and our pressing and everything.”

Newcastle came alive after our first goal yesterday, and we could have had more than three goals, which is our joint highest number of goals scored in the league this season.

Couldn’t get a good signal in the ground yesterday and forgot about other results as the afternoon unfolded, but that was a massive three points given what happened elsewhere.

Didn’t realise the bus had departed.

A local lad and good solid defender but I’d much rather see him on the bench chomping at the bit trying to prove he’s better than his replacement.”
