Today’s Result Goes Newcastle’s Way – Here’s Where We Stand In League – Plus Goalscorers

After Burnley scored directly from a corner after 6 just minutes this afternoon, Liverpool came back to win the game 4-2 at Anfield and remain just one point behind Manchester City.

City have won six league games in succession since we took them apart 2-1 at St. James’ Park on Tuesday night 29th January.

The defeat leaves Burnley on 30 points and they are now only 2 points above 3rd bottom Cardiff and 4 points behind Newcastle.

Sad about WBA sacking Moore. Clearly he was popular with the players. However, I can only see it being a positive for us in terms of keeping Rondon as I think it will destabilise WBA and lessen their chances of promotion.

    Pottsclock,
I looked at their league position earlier, funny decision, more likely to backfire than see them finish in the top two.

Perez sticking Nicky the ball tossers words down his throat. Be a man and admit your constant abuse of Perez was inappropriate

I still have a buzz of satisfaction from being at St James’ Park yesterday. I saw a picture in today’s paper with Pickford bringing Rondon down with a Rugby tackle – no doubt whatsoever that he should have seen a red card!

A great result, helped by “Pickford’s antics” serves the bugga right!

Wonder what Fulham will ask for Ryan Sessegnon with them going down and probably desperate to recoup some of those millions they invested.
Would love to see him in toon.

    Fantastic game yesterday!
Rafa has slowly but surely built the squad with (relatively speaking) buttons to spend. We haven’t got the quality of several other established PL clubs across the squad, but boy, have we got some guts and character.
Everton were running scared for the last half hour as we battered them, roared on by the fans.

Sweet, sweet sight to see Pickford slinking off after trying to goad the fans as best he could and grin his way through the first hour.
    GET IN!!

    EGB,
As much as I like Dummet and Yedlin I think we could definitely afford two better full backs, with those two being very adequate replacements or competition for a starting place.

When you see the goal scoring numbers you can clearly see where we need to get better right away actually think with good quality service Perez and Rondon can get about 12 – 15 each but we still need more from other players!!

If Ashley allowed a similar spend to Mclaren year plus player sales and swaps we could be in business!!

Rondon swap with Gayle plus couple of million
    Joellinton 20 million
    Ryan Fraser 20 million
    Ryan Sessegnon 15 million
    Limbombe 8 million

Dreaming I know but that would give us pace and creativity with Rafa able to turn Sessegnon into a top quality wing back

We need Rondon and Joellinton would be able to play beside or challenge him for a place

Fraser and Limbombe would be Atsu and Kennedy replacements offering better end product!

I would say Sessegnon is minimum 25. But I would still rather pay that for a player that is clearly going to be or already is quality than to go cheap just to add numbers. With Rafa he would be world class.
We have been lucky with our bargains, Perez, Fernandez, Schaer, Hayden etc, but would be nice to get proven players in as well.
