After playing so well for Newcastle in the first half of the season the emergence of Fabian Schar and the return of Florian Lejeune from injury meant that Federico Fernandez couldn’t get back into the starting eleven.
But with Schar suspended and Lascelles injured Federico Fernandez will now get his chance tomorrow.
He’s an experienced player and it shows the strength in depth we have in our central defense this season.
Federico Fernandez – has a big chance tomorrow
And the manager has challenged the Argentine to come in and do the job for Newcastle.
This is what Rafa said in his press conference earlier today starting with Federico:
“He has more chances now.” “He was our best defender at the beginning of the season.”
“After that he was injured and the team was doing well, so he had to wait.”
“But he has been training well and hopefully he will be ready.”
“Sean Longstaff and Rob Elliot are unavailable.”
“We won’t take the risk with Lascelles – we’ll assess him in two or three days.”
“But Clark is available – we have lost one, but we have another one available.”
It’s good that Ciaran Clark is back too, so now we have only Longstaff and Elliot out injured for the season.
Clark has been troubled by a slight knee injury but he is now fit and will travel to the south coast.

Comment #1Did someone suggest that Jib was err, being inconsistent with his Gary Cook taking over story? Never, Jib’s always consistent, guaranteed to post whatever fantasy comes to mind or he’s copied from the web without even attributing it.
