Rafa Hints That Isaac Hayden May Stay At Newcastle

Rafa Benitez has worked with Isaac Hayden for close to three years now, and the former Arsenal midfielder is a much better player than he was when he first arrived. on Tyneside for a fee of £2M.

He is playing really well for us at the moment and has been a starter in central midfield since December and before Sean Longstaff was injured he formed an excellent partnership with the 21-year-old local lad.

But it looks like Hayden wants to leave Newcastle to be closer to his girlfriend and baby who are located in South Wales.

Rafa Benitez with Isaac Hayden

Rafa Benitez has said Isaac Hayden can get even better as the boss said this in the Shields Gazette today:

“I think he can play even better.”

“I was thinking he could do well, progress and be in the national team. He has the potential to play for England.”

“He just needs to settle down and understand the game in another way. It’s a question of time.”

“With his background coming from Arsenal, and the quality he had technically, he needed to understand his position,”

“Sometimes, because he has this energy, he’s running to spaces he could avoid and maybe he could be in a better position.”

“If he can improve that, he can be a much better player.”

“At the beginning, it was not easy (when Hayden asked for a transfer last summer).”

“We can have conversations about anything. You can see that he’s enjoying playing. It’s something that he will analyze at the end.”

“Maybe (he will stay). We have to wait. If he’s doing well and happy, you never know.”

“The main thing for anyone in your job is to do well. If he’s playing and doing well, he’s enjoying it.”

“I think this group of players is giving everything, and he’s someone when he goes on the pitch, can make mistakes like anyone, but he’s giving everything,”

“He has the right mentality.”

“When he wanted to go, he was not happy.””

“After, when he started playing games, playing well, so you can see his face every day – he’s enjoying himself.”

It’s not clear on the outside that Isaac Hayden wants to stay on Tyneside, but we hope he does.

And for his football career, he couldn’t do any better than having Rafa Benitez guide him at Newcastle.

That would be assuming that Rafa himself stays at Newcastle. past this summer.

Catchy, that sounds like the words of a very poor coach.

I wonder if Bournemouth will go 4-4-1-1 today or 4-4-2, Rafa must have been up all night worrying about it 😮

    Lawro’s predictions:-

    Bournemouth v Newcastle (Premier League)

Newcastle have taken a lot of pressure off themselves with their great comeback to beat Everton last weekend, because they are now six points clear of the relegation zone.
Bournemouth won too, against Huddersfield, after a run of four defeats and a draw in their previous five games.
Callum Wilson scored for the Cherries after returning from injury, and they are much more dangerous when he is in the team.
    Lawro’s prediction: 2-0
    Danny’s prediction: 1-3
    Kenny’s prediction: 0-1

Glad we don’t come back from 2 down to win 3-2 every week as since then, it seems Perez, Dubravka, Schar and Lascelles are all joining Hayden in imminent departure. That’s not to mention Rondon, Aarons, Sterry, Roberts and of course Rafa himself. Chuck in the hapless loanee, Kenedy and poor Miggy will struggle to find any amigos at all next year.
