Rafa Talks About Report – Newcastle Looking For New Manager

The report in L’Equipe yesterday that Newcastle were interested in current Lyon manager Bruno Genesio.

The club had presumably contacted his agent Pini Zihavi who is currently trying to get a new deal signed for Genesio at Lyon.

So the news leaked was by his agent in an attempt to give him some leverage with Lyon on the pending new contract.

Newcastle officials played down the news when they were contacted by the local media about the report.

Rafa Benitez – on the fence at Newcastle on a new deal

Rafa was asked about the report yesterday in his press briefings for the match this afternoon at Bournemouth.

This is what Rafa said as reported in the Chronicle today:

“My experience is that they can talk about managers because it is an opportunity, and they will talk about teams for me because I didn’t sign the extension.”

“That is football. You cannot stop agents talking and offering people.”

“It is something that is fine. It happens. But Bournemouth is my target.”

“How many times can you read about players who might be signing for your club?”

“I remember it at Napoli, and it is the same here. You will have the transfer window at the start, then you have 100 names.”

“How many of them are accurate? It is the same.”

“My future is Bournemouth. I am in contact with Lee Charnley, and I will say more or less the same.”

“We have to make sure we are safe, then it will be easier. We can keep talking but the main thing will be to concentrate on the games.”

There will always be news reports about the possibility that Rafa will leave Newcastle or that Rafa will sign a new deal when he is currently on the fence.

What Newcastle have to guard against is that another club comes in and offers him everything he wants at Newcastle and more –  to entice him away from Tyneside.

That’s a concern.

Rafa dismissing this speculation, with the contempt it deserves.

This crap’s hit the press because either Zihavi’s trying to drum up interest in Genesio or Bishop’s had his hand in it as part of an Ashley inspired clumsy, amateurish, May-like attempt to force Rafa’s hand.

How is it other clubs keep their internal business private when Ashley ever seems to be determined to conduct his NUFC dealings via the media?

And, if this is Ashley-inspired, he’s going the right way to get Rafa’s back up instead of discussing (note the word) Rafa’s contract requirements with Rafa. Like May the control freak, Ashley seems to.prefer a confrontational approach to resolving business issues rather than discuss ’em in an amicable, constructive manner.

From earlier, there’s no reason why a person, you and your other facets, can’t be a web-searching plagiarist and be a no nowt fantasist at the same time. Sometimes facts get lost in translation and sourcing information and interpreting it correctly can be problematic for some.who try to impress yet often fail.
