After the 2-2 draw yesterday at Bournemouth we now have over a two-week International break before we play at Arsenal two weeks tomorrow night.
We have 7 games left – three at home and four away and we should be able to pick up some additional wins before the end of the season.
Rafa Benitez – will want more than 9 points in final seven games
Here are the seven remaining games.
Mon 01 Apr Arsenal vs Newcastle 8:00pm
Sat 06 Apr Newcastle vs Crystal Palace 3:00pm
Fri 12 Apr Leicester vs Newcastle 8:00pm
Sat 20 Apr Newcastle vs Southampton 5:30pm
Sat 27 Apr Brighton vs Newcastle 5:30pm
Sat 04 May Newcastle vs Liverpool 3:00pm
Sun 12 May Fulham vs Newcastle 3:00pm
And compared to last season the records are identical in every way.
[table “78” not found /]That’s really weird and a little amazing.
In the previous two games last season at this time (games 30 and 31) we beat Southampton (3-0) and Huddersfield (1-0) at home.
That was the start of a four-game winning streak which was followed by a four-game losing streak before we hammered Chelsea at home on Sunday 13 May to finish the season on 44 points in 10th place.
Hopefully, we can do better this season and get more than 9 points (3 wins) in the final seven games.
Here’s how we stand before today’s games in the Premier League and other teams now have games in hand on us because of the FA Cup.
[table “76” not found /]We are certainly not safe yet and there’s still one club to be relegated along with Huddersfield and Fulham.
Comments welcome.

Comment #45And if you are Picasso’s biggest fan, as Jib says he is, then you might know that Guernica was moved in 1992. I am not that good at maths but that’s 27 years ago. Or is it that he wants people to know that he is a big art fan and knows there is a Picasso Museum in Malaga? Who cares if he knows this?

Comment #64It probably was a penalty, but thats not the issue. If you are goiing to give a penalty for that kind of thing you will have to be giving numerous pens out a game, which he didnt, he clearly had a rush of blood to the head and gave a penalty and therfore after that he was inconsistent, and therefore his bias and double standards have cost us. Therefore bad referring. The Rondon tug was easily much more a penalty.

Comment #67Who’s this GS character? Usually you’d expect new posters to actually make football/nufc comments, you know actually contribute to what the blog is supposed to be. Many posters have a go at others or talk non related stuff but they have actually contributed about football before and do so often. This guy though, doesn’t seem interested just wanting to point score.

Comment #71Referee’s are like the Amur Leopard and goal keepers, they are a protected species.
Newcastle get screwed over by Refs no end and anyone that does not think they are biased against our club is either asleep or the opposition.
The problem is if your manager publicly talks about one which they have the right to do then they all say, ok, let’s see how we can screw you over the next game and maybe that will stop you from having ago at us as a professional entity.
Trust me Refs don’t like VAR, they see it as something that is going to embarrass them and hold them accountable with there decisions, that pen yesterday was a fcuking joke, Rondon was thrown down in the box and nothing.
Pickford last week, Boly in two games, the list can go on, so it’s best not to say anything to them, they are protected. Sad when your trying to survive in this league.

Say what you like about him, he contributes about football too which you have yet to do. So right now you just come across as someone with no interest in the blog. Don’t think you’re in a position to have a go at anyone

Even with VAR, I think they still would have given the pen for Bournemouth. I don’t have any confidence that it will change much unless it is very clear. Because there was contact they’ll likely always be against us. It’s the same referees that are currently doing us over that will be using var if I’m correct.
I don’t hold much hope if I’m honest as the top clubs will still be favoured. Just my opinion though. Think we’ll get more in our favour though than we currently do.

Comment #80I wonder if Diame will get his two year contract. I find him some games brilliant and others he seems pedestrian.
Looked all over the place for Bournemouth’s second goal.
I know the one year extension is close to activation but if he wants a two year deal, maybe he will be away.
I think now we have Longstaff and hopefully Hayden, also the possibility of Rafa (if he stays) will be looking to bring someone in, more so if Shelves leaves – I can see Diame finding a new club.
Lot of changes could be happening this summer.
