Benitez Proud Of Trophies Won At Valencia And Liverpool – Doesn’t Mention Newcastle

Rafa Benitez’ contract runs out at Newcastle this summer – something every Newcastle fans knows about.

we are hoping that Rafa will agree to stay on Tyneside even though Mike Ashley – a very miserly owner – will be in charge of the club in the medium term.

One of his former clubs Valencia will shortly be celebrating their 100th anniversary and Rafa has said he will not be returning to the Spanish club; he is the most successful manager in their history.

Rafa has often said in the last few months that he sees himself in management for ten years at least.

Rafa Benitez – Newcastle manager

This is what the Newcastle manager has said in Marca when asked if he wanted to manager Valencia again:

“I feel emotion and pride because in the end they were years with triumphs, and some lows and adversity,”

“The second year when we won was special because we didn’t have money and it is very complicated to surprise the big teams.”

“You can do it in the Champions League or the Copa del Rey – but to do what Leicester did was an immense achievement.”

“I remember when we first won the league, I told the dressing room we were going to do it and I had confidence because we had brought in players of quality.”

“We had professionals in that team who stayed after training simply to talk about football and that makes a difference.”

“I have a lot of respect for the coach of Valencia (Marcelino García Toral). I have 10 years of football left and you never know where I will end up,”

“So far in my career, I have never returned to an old club because the circumstances to do so have never transpired.”

“Picking between the trophies though, I can’t do that. I left Valencia with league titles and a UEFA Cup.”

“Then I reached Liverpool and won the Champions League, I’ll keep the two!”

Rafa has so far had a barren time of it at Newcastle over the last three seasons.

We were relegated after Rafa came on board – promoted immediately back to the Premier League and have spent the last two seasons fighting relegation.

You often wonder if this is what Rafa wants to do long term.

We hope he will stay with Newcastle but he’s giving nothing away on whether he will indeed stay on Tyneside.

Winning more trophies aa the Newcastle manager could prove difficult as long as Ashley is the owner.

Comments welcome.

I’m confused what does the noble and ancient Gaelic language have to do with this?

An idea for an anti-ashley song that shouldn’t dim the atmosphere too much.

    We’re caught in a trap
    I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much, newcastle
    Why can’t you see
    What you’re doing to me
When i don’t believe a word Mike Ashley says?
    We can’t go on together
    With suspicious minds (suspicious minds)
And we can’t build our dreams
    On suspicious minds
So, if an old friend I know
    Stops by to say hello
Would we still see suspicion in your eyes?
    Here we go again
    We’re up for sale again
You can’t see the tears are real
    I’m crying (Yes, I’m crying)
    We can’t go on together
    With suspicious minds (suspicious minds)
And we can’t build our dreams
    On suspicious minds
    Oh, let our love survive
Or dry the tears from your eyes
    Let’s don’t let a good thing die
    When, Ashley you know
    We’ve never lied to you
    Mmm, yeah, yeah
    We’re caught in a trap
    I can’t walk out
    Because I…

Martoon/Rob, I stated same point re rafa having limited options and got the bird from some. Fact of the matter is, his options in England are limited. Maybe an ambitious Leeds, or a wolves if the need a new boss. Even Scotland with celtic, but not many options. Arsenal and spurs fans won’t want rafa. Would not be happy. Especially arsenal. That suits us just fine. Apparently this is denigrating rafa?? Strange how the tone has changed when people have smelled the coffee. Rafa suits us and we suit him. Good.

Lol Munster I do believe you said his tactics were old hat and wouldn’t be tolerated at Spurs. I think you also said that arsenal fans would riot of he was appointed.

To coin a famous inhabitant of your fair Isle

It’s the way you tell ’em.

    🙂

Not putting you down I know you support Rafa, but I can understand why some folk objected to it in some respects

Shearer had a hand in Bobby Robson leaving..he was part of the Piss taking .

Remember his Interview after Bobby left him on the bench against a small Scandinavian team ..possibly Helsingborg ? Euro tie. He whinged on about Bobby leaving him out and used some bad words against him ..Shearer was a disgrace that night on Live TV.

It went down hill from that interview .

Jermain Jenarse deliberately missing a sitter at Middlesbrough..blatantly for all to see..not long after , possibly after a Match with Villa, Sir Bobby was sacked ..worst decision ever made by Shepherd. Disgrace.

Would love to see footage of Jenas miss..think it finished 2-2 with Jimmy Floyd Haisslebank handballing a goal that looked like a diving header . Same match ?
