Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett picked up his 5th cap for Wales last night in their 1-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago at Wrexham.
It was a friendly game, and since the last time he played for Wales was when he picked up a hamstring injury, Newcastle are happy he got through the game unscathed.
Manager Ryan Giggs seems to rate Paul so the local lad should get more caps in the future and he looked a class act last night.
Paul played for 61 minutes at Wrexham’s Racecourse Ground with Ben Woodburn scoring a late winner in stoppage time.
Paul Dummett – in Welsh colors
Dummett started as part of a back four, partnering Ashley Williams in central defense.
Many fans and pundits think Paul may end up as a left-footed center-back and he has played in the back three but on the left-hand side.
Paul got some excellent reviews from Welsh fans after the game as he looked solid at the back.
Wales will play Slovakia on Sunday in Euro 2020 qualification, and he could come up against Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
The main thing is to hope both Newcastle players come through that game without any injuries.
They are vital players for us.
