Newcastle Want Talented Box-To-Box Midfielder After Failing To Sign Him In January

Le10 Sport are reporting that Newcastle United are interested in signing 20-year-old box-to-box midfielder Boubakary Soumare who plays for Lille.

He has been called the new Paul Pogba becasue of his style of play.

Soumare was born in Paris, France and is of Senegalese descent and he’s played for all the French Youth sides up to U20.

So here’s another example of the club trying to bring some top young players to Tyneside who can then hopefully be developed into star players for Newcastle.

Manchester City have been keeping tabs on the 6ft 2ins youngster and Juventus are also interested.

It’s reported that Newcastle made a bid for the youngster on the last day of the January transfer window, but the French club rejected the offer.

He started his career at the PSG Youth Academy in 2011 before moving to Lille in the summer of 2017 for more first-team opportunities.

Soumare made his debut for Lille in a 3–0 Ligue 1 win over FC Metz in November 2017 and has since played 32 times for the French club.

He’s the type of top young player Newcastle should be going after this summer.

But we will face competition from some top clubs including – as we mentioned earlier – Italian giants Juventus who also wanted to sign him in January.

And the report in le10Sport mentions a “monstrous offensive” by a Chinese club with an offer of €80M on the table.

If that’s true Newcastle will be priced out of any deal for the 20-year-old.

What do you think?

Hudson felt he was getting nowhere in England
so when he was given the chance to go on loan
to Fort Lauderdale with their new manager Ron Newman
he jumped at the chance – then signed up permanently

On my left Fenham on my right Florida – you choose.

Ed Harrison made the same choice twixt Chapel House and Carolina
