Results Did Not Go Newcastle’s Way Yesterday

The results in the Premier League did not go Newcastle’s way yesterday.

Burnley won at home 2-0 against Wolves – a terrific result for them – and Brighton were beaten 1-0 at the Amex Stadium by Southampton.

Both winning clubs are now on 33 points and only 2 points behind Newcastle in the league.

The big relegation game today sees Cardiff City try to get something out of their home game with Chelsea.

And anything can happen in that game.

Neil Warnock – Cardiff City manager

But with 28 points from their 30 games, Cardiff are now in danger of being left behind if they cannot get a win on the board today.

Both bottom clubs Huddersfield and Fulham were beaten 2-0 and the Terriers are officially relegated as they are on 14 points with only 6 games left and they are 19 points behind 4th bottom team Burnley.

Manchester City won at Fulham and are back on top of the league table.

Crystal Palace beat Huddersfield and Palace go above us in the table, and we drop one place to 14th position.

We’ve got to hope that we can take something out of our game at Arsenal on Monday night.

Today a Chelsea win at Cardiff would certainly help our survival hopes.

Here’s the relevant league standing before today’s games.

Fulham are going down too, I have no doubt about that, but we still have a 7 point gap over Cardiff, so regardless I consider us safe. I would like us to fight for every point left and finish as high as we can though.

I think we might just nick it by a goal.

I reckon if our defence can manage to frustrate Aubamayang or Lacazette then we could just hit them on the break. In attack they are strong, but the back line is very makeshift.
