It took two late goals by Chelsea yesterday to rob Cardiff of a home win as they went down 2-1 after leading 1-0 with six minutes to play.
So they remain on 28 points after 31 games played.
And the referee had a terrible game and refused the home side tow good penalty shouts in the game for two clear fouls by Chelsea players in the penalty box.
If that was against Newcastle we would be more than livid.
Cardiff has gone ahead in the first minute of the second half, but then referee Craig Pawson allowed the Chelsea equalizer after 84 minutes with the scorer Cesar Azpilicueta clearly a yard offside.
How did Chelsea’s equalizing goal stand with Azpilicueta a yard offside?
How that goal stood, we will never know bit then after 91 minutes substitute Loftus-Cheek scored the winner.
We will have VAR next season, and we need it with some embarrassing calls by officials this season.
And it hasn’t gone unnoticed they are usually against the sides who are in the bottom half of the table.
But after the result, Newcastle remain 7 points above the 3rd bottom side Cardiff (8 if you include goal difference) with 7 games to play.
Cardiff now must start winning games to avoid the drop.
A win tonight for Newcastle at Arsenal would be a phenomenal result – just when we need it.
Here’s how we stand in the table before tonight’s game.
And here are the remaining seven fixtures for us.
