Poll – Who Was Newcastle’s Best Player At Arsenal?

It was more of a disappointing display than a disappointing result last night when we were well beaten 2-0  at the Emirates.

And the truth is that one the night the scoreline could have been a lot worse.

Rafa cannot be too happy with the display.

Alexandre Lacazette lobs the ball over Dubravka for the second goal

The next game is a tough encounter with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

They are one point above us in the league table so a win would help our survival hopes and take us above Palace in the league table.

Last night it would not of made a jot of difference if we had a £50 million striker – if you not give him the bullets to fire.

Our midfield was non-existent last night – we had two break up players in Diame and Hayden who rarely pass the ball more than ten yards – to slow and ponderous on the ball – Ritchie playing as a half back who I thought had a decent game.

There was no link up from defence to midfield to attack.

When you have Dummett Yedlin and Lascalles in defence who rely on LeJuene to pass the ball out from the back set up attacks – then we tend to lump it long missing out our ‘midfield’

With only LeJuene as the only ball player we needed Shelvey in the midfield last night

Me I would play with two ball players out of the three in LaJuene, Star and Fernandez at the back with either dumbest or Lascalles as the other centre back.

Midfield – we are missing Longstaffe – he had it all in the games he played could tackle pass long and short and a eye for goal.

Our forwards Perez who had to come deeper and deeper to get the ball Almiron and Rondon who looked out of sorts were left isolated and living off scraps last night.

Got to pick ourselves up for Saturday which is going to be hard with a team brimming with attack options and counter attack

I know Ritchie was vexed at being subbed
but the game was gone – Rafa was thinking
    about Saturday

My Man of the Match was Dubravka

He handled very single ball cross that pinged in around the ground last night – about ten in all tried to get attacks going but we had no ball players

    Is this wise ?
    The Daily Mail
“Peter Beardsley will play in the same Hong Kong tournament as Newcastle United’s Under 23s despite being charged by the FA with using racist and abusive language towards the club’s academy players.
Beardsley is signed up to be part of the PlayOn masters team at the Soccer Sevens next month and will stay in the same hotel as his accusers. He could even be on the same flight as it is customary for all teams to travel together from Heathrow.
Beardsley has told PlayOn captain Viv Anderson that he will contest the FA charges and wants to play, even though it could bring him face to face with some of those who gave evidence against him. The organisers of the tournament are aware of Beardsley’s planned presence.”

Substitutes contributed nothing. Tight passes, easily broken up by a smoothe Arsenal team. Shelvey would have been a better option than the non dynamic trio. I am a bit worried about Saturday. Palace have some very slick players and it is a very important game for both sides.
