Problem Created And Then Dismissed By Newcastle

There seems to have been a problem created and a problem dismissed after last night’s poor performance at the Emirates.

There’s a report in the Chronicle today that there was a problem last night between Almiron and Ritchie.

Some fans also noticed they thought they were not passing to each other when we were well beaten by Arsenal 2-0.

“Newcastle insiders,” this morning say there is no problem between the two players – who happen to be two of Newcastle’s best players.

Almiron is still getting used to playing in the Premier League and how Rafa wants him to play in the side.

And it’s really not worth creating problems we don’t have.

Miguel Almiron and Matt Ritchie in action last night

Here’s what Rafa said about the game last night:

“I am proud of the players because they are trying very hard.”

“Sometimes we are lucky enough or good enough to get the points, but today there was a big difference between the teams.”

“We were close enough to be a threat in the first half, and maybe to get something in the second half too.”

“But we conceded the second goal. They had a couple of situations where they were dangerous, they had pace and ability.”

Newcastle did not play well last night – especially in the second half – and Ritchie was seen shouting at Almiron for him to cover back at times during the game.

But these things happen in the heat of the moment and during games – and especially when we lose.

If Almiron wasn’t doing his job last night then Rafa will sort it out between the two of them quickly.

What’s important for Newcastle now is that the lads have to improve their game and win at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

A win would take us very close to bring safe in the Premier League and bring the smiles back on the faces of our loyal fans.

It seems we’re not the only one’s to notice Richie & Almiron!

There is defo something going on every game Richie doesn’t pass to Almiron and Almiron always looks to go inside rather than play Richie in on the overlap!!

It’s very strange and totally different to when Richie was playing on the right him and Yedlin were always on the same wavelength going forward (maybe not as much defensively)

Yedlin himself doesn’t seem as effective going forward in the new formation

Palace are at Spurs tomorrow so hopefully they’ll be a bit heavy in the legs on Saturday for our match. They might even win at Spurs leaving them to plan their vacations for the weekend.

We were poor all around yesterday and Arsenal didn’t need us to do them any favours. And they were on form at home. They haven’t lost in the PL at the Emirates since the first week of the season.

I was very frustrated by the many passes that we just gave right to their players or were easily picked off or blocked. Even when our players looked like they had time to make a good pass they still bottled it. Worst passing game by us all season.

When Kenedy subbed for Ritchie, think we should have switched to a back 4 at that time. Kenedy can’t do the full back role well enough but he can (well should be able to) play the left side of the midfield (assuming he is found his game) with a full back behind him. Dummett would have just moved to the left full back and he is the best left back in the team. Probably wall paper over the cracks though as none of this would have stopped us from giving the ball away constantly.

    On to Saturday. HWTL!

    Robleenio

Mate the players I mentioned are the ones I would keep in the squad, I think with other players added we could become a top 6-8 team. It’s the expensive players we need now, the creative midfielder and the 15-20 goal strikers.

I just dont think some players will wait whilst Ash allows one ‘Marquee ‘ signing a year to improve our squad.

I agree some players are either not good enough or they are not consistent enough for us to climb the table.

It’s a big summer for a lot of reasons !

No I didn’t see the Shearer link fella, you know the craic mate.

    😉
