Rafa Refuses To Criticize Individual Players – It’s A Team Game

Rafa Benitez doesn’t like to talk about individual players after a game and how well they played – or otherwise – because his foundation of coaching is the team.

The team is what matters to Rafa and fighting on through adversity when it’s needed.

We were well beaten on Monday night at Arsenal but Rafa saw it differently and thought if we had better goalscorers up front we could have kept in the game.

That’s no doubt a message to Mike Ashley for the summer if Rafa stays at the club.

Jamaal Lascelles did not have a good game and was at fault for Arsenal’s second goal scored by Alexandre Lacazette after 83 minutes.

Jamaal will likely keep his place for Saturday’s game at home to Crystal Palace since Rafa’s always had great faith in his 25-year-old captain.

And as expected Rafa has refused to criticize Jamaal and he said this as reported in the Chronicle today:

“We win together and we lose together, we made a mistake as a team.”

With only one point from our previous two games then hopefully, we can get back to our winning ways on Saturday at home to Crystal Palace.

And if Cardiff City lose at Manchester City tonight and we can win on Saturday afternoon that will almost seal our safety in the Premier League this season.

We would be 10 points ahead of Cardiff with the Welsh club having only 6 games (18 points) to play.

Comments welcome.

Too much pressure from Arsenal forced us into mistakes. We weren’t good enough.

Anyway it’s half past week, time to forget about that game and start crossing our fingers for Saturday. I hope we see a couple of changes. Need the points otherwise it will turn into squeeky bum time especially if results go against us.

Cardiff and Palace must lose tonight, surely…….

As I said the other day it’s Arsenal, they had probably close to 100 Million sitting on the bench, we had some Newcastle Brown and some pies.

Palace will be up for spoiling the Spurs party and having the bragging rights for years to come, could go either way.
Man City v Cardiff has to be a home win 😉
