Rafa Benitez has just given his press conference for the important game at home to Crystal Palace tomorrow.
A win will almost certainly mean we are safe in the Premier League this season.
One change in Rafa’s appearance was that he wore a smart brown jacket and it was a more formal looking Rafa Benitez this afternoon.
Here’s an Instagram shot from the Chronicle’s Lee Ryder.
Here’s some of what Rafa has said in his press conference:
“Schar is fine, we have some little problems with Hayden, Diame, and Yedlin. We will see.”
“Shelvey is available but we will see if he starts.”
‘I said before 38 points will be enough to stay up. We’ll see.”
“The main thing is not to waste too much energy on that and to try to win the game.”
“We are playing with more confidence, Almiron has brought something more to attack. Man City was massive for us – to beat one of the best teams in the world.”
“Everton was also a test. It’s something we have to use for the next games.”
“My message to the players is to be on the front-foot but Palace are very dangerous.”
“I was quite disappointed with the game (at Arsenal) because we didn’t play at our level. We could have done better.”
“But I told the players to analyze what they did wrong, and make sure to fix the problems against Crystal Palace”
Seven in ten Newcastle fans think we can win this – we really hope they are right about that.

Comment #1“I was quite disappointed with the game (at Arsenal) because we didn’t play at our level.”
Good, honest, straight talking from Rafa. Stuff blaming refs. Stuff blaming the owner. Stuff blaming the fans, the opposition fans, the weather, the pitch or the colour of the shirts.
The message to our players is ‘We lost because we didn’t play well enough, now what can we do to fix that?’
Simplicity.
Get him signed up Mike, ya big tub o’ lard.

Comment #2Unfortunately I’ve got to go out right now. C dog’s away trawling through through a throwaway comment I made TEN MONTHS AGO ha ha ha! You never know, I might be back before he is – although I doubt it. Away to fill the car up for tomorrow’s game, the tank has taken a beating.
You never know, if we win tomorrow Rafa might sit down with the knacka and sort his future out – because we should be safe!!!! 🙂
Some people just bring negativity to the blog where its not needed. It’s what drives people away. It’s driven me away before because there’s enough to be negative about sometimes without making it up.
So what c dog? 3-0 to Palace tomorrow is it? Same old same old. See ya.
