Rafa Really Disappointed With Result – We Have To Improve

With Everton beating Arsenal 1-0 at home yesterday Watford are now in 10th place and have 46 points.

There’s no way Newcastle can realistically catch them (12 points behind with a worse goal difference) with only 5 games to play.

We may be able to get three wins in the final five games to equal the points total (44) we got the last season.

But we’ll be in the bottom half of the table this season.

Rafa will not be pleased with that and will be more determined than ever to get some agreements from owner Mike Ashley.

We must have a much better side next season, so we ‘re not fighting relegation again!

Rafa Benitez – we have to improve in these situations

Benitez was asked in his press conference after the game if it was  lack of concentration that gave away the penalty:

“It could be, but we have to improve,”

“When you play against a good team with experience and good players, you have to be consistent in the way you approach the game.”

“We were fine for a while, but when something goes wrong, we have to have more experience and manage it better. “

“When you play in a hurry, you do things quicker and you make mistakes.”

“The way that they play, we knew it would be like that. They have won seven games away from home and only four at home.”

“We knew it could be like that and we were controlling everything for 80 minutes.”

“But we knew that one mistake could be a problem, and we could not avoid it, even though we had four defenders around Zaha.”

“After that, we have to manage the game, we had 17 minutes – including stoppage time – to try and do the right things, but we played in a rush.”

We were supposed to beat Palace on Saturday so Rafa could spend some days this week to reach a new agreement with Mike Ashley to stay at the club – but that will not happen.

Our players should be motivated to beat Leicester City on Friday night so Rafa will be able to sign a new deal soon!

But t will be difficult to win on Friday at the King Power Stadium against a rejuvenated Leicester side – but not impossible.

As a reminder, we won 2-1 there last season around this time.

We all know that Rafa wants to stay and if he doesn’t it’s because Ashley wants to run the club in a way that makes any kind of success impossible. I’m not sure how they’ll explain it if he doesn’t stay. My bet is that we won’t even get an explanation just a cursory thanks for your efforts type statement. We were told that Hughton went because we needed to push on, not sure they can spin that yarn again.
