More Talk About Newcastle Takeover

The latest on the Newcastle takeover has emerged today from talkSPORT, and it all happened before the game with Arsenal last week, and the claims were made by former striker Dave Kitson.

39-year-old TalkSPORT pundit Kitson made the claim that Newcastle will be sold before the end of the season.

Let’s hope he has better luck than former center-back Steve Howey had with his sensational claim in late December.

At that time Howey said the club was close to being sold imminently,

But it wasn’t.

Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley

Kitson was speaking as part of TalkSPORT’s international commentary team before last Monday’s match at Arsenal.

Here’s some of the things Kitson said as reported via the Chronicle today:

“Well it’s funny – I can let you in on a little bit of an exclusive. Don’t ask me how I know but I do. This club will be sold before the end of the season.”

“It’s going to be between £300M and £400M. But it is going.”

“It’s gone. It’s being done as we speak.”

So in a week or so or more – when the club is not sold –  talkSPORT should bring Steve Kitson back on and see what he says about his (failed) prediction.

The season ends four weeks this coming Sunday.

We have to wonder if pundits just make these things up or it’s the other people who make things up and then tell the pundits about them.

Any takeover talk has gone quiet at the moment as Mike Ashley presumably is trying to sign Rafa up to a new three-year deal.

Let’s hope he’s successful in doing that.

Comments welcome.

I have just treated myself to watching our 5-0 drubbing of manu. What a team we had led by our Shearer.
Things I forgot, batty having Butt by the throat, dirty tackles by Cantana, the flying tackle which Ginola skipped over.

That wonderful chip by Albert, that goal by Ginola. All priceless memories.

    We were brilliant that day.

Looks like I might be correct when I mentioned a few weeks ago that Arthur Blank may be buying Newcastle. I did think it was a bit odd he sold 300M of his shares in Atlanta about a month ago.

I’m in the process of getting this lined up to watch, As most of the little things you mentioned I had forgotten myself.
If only we could get those times back.
This mention of another takeover, Could it be another load of Bollocks to avoid Ashley having to cough up for more signings in the summer break ?

    Geordie-john,
Does he need an excuse, if he doesn’t feel we need players he just won’t buy them. My feeling is that if Rafa goes there’ll be about 70/90M spent on young players to quell the fans unrest over Rafas departure and in the hope they’ll return a hefty profit.

I still think the person that told Steve Howey had read it on here, OLG managed to convince a lot of people, a mate of mine was convinced.

Geordie John… It wouldn’t help Ashley in that regard though if they are saying the club will be sold before the end of the season. Also its far to early to be using that as a tactic if he was.

Maybe if it wash the middle of the summer 3-4 months time then it may be another Ashley tactic.

But Kitson, who leaked it seems very adament in fact he was positively certain. And no one puts their neck on the line with that kinda certainty if its not true.

On top of the news i wrote about a few weeks ago on here, ties in nicely with a possible bid. This time I’m gonna say we are actually gonna be sold soon. Watch this space.

I’d be over the moon (and back) if this is true but we’ve been here so many times before – I’ll believe it once it’s signed & sealed. Just going to get the prayer mat out now!!!

Now that he has lost £150 million on the Debenhams debacle he might sell us to raise some capital. Every cloud and all that?

Ashley 101. Get one of your inner circle to go for a beer with a ex Footballer. “Accidently’ leak info about concrete bid. Let the seed grow, as this time the lie is harder to sell, until the Summer and harvest the reward of little investment and point and laugh at the shattered dreams of the hopefull.

You don’t build a Empire by being a mug. Don’t be a taken in. I for one will not believe it until the ink is dry or Bladeuser does something useful with his Bladey :p

Posh Geordie….. I’m not so sure.

That’s what I meant about putting his neck on the line. NOBODY is going to come out and say so positively that were being sold even if Ashley himself told him. People lie, Ashley lies.

Why on earth would Kitson be so positive? UNLESS he’s seen concrete proof somehow or someway.

And on top of that its the complete wrong time of year to be saying there is a bid unless their actually is a bid/takeover. When The transfer window opens it won’t close again until the middle of August. A long dragged out fake sale would only stand to look even more fake if he dragged it out that long. He’s literally only over the last one.

He also knows he can’t get rid of Rafa because only a mad man would do that, but conversely he knows he’s gonna have to shell out big time with Rafa on board. Which is exactly why he might sell it as he doesn’t want to spend the money.

He’s also clearly not somone who wants to hang onto Newcastle indefinitely for the rest of his life and I think if we manage to stay up he will never have a better chance to make as much profit as possible.

Give it 2 months but don’t be surprised if we’re sold in 2 weeks.

MA is very heavily involved in his retail shenanigans and couldn’t give a tinker’s cuss about NUFC, an irritant and distraction and a failed escapade on his part, the only difficulty is offering him a price he can make a profit at. Sadly, nobody’s yet managed that trick but, when (not if) somebody does, it’ll be quick and quiet

9…. “A failed escapade”? In the last 15 odd years he’s turned Sports Direct into the biggest sports outlet probably in UK if not Europe.

    100% successful escapade you mean.

He bought Newcastle to advertise SportsDirect and for NOTHING else, and it worked masterfully. He might be someone we all hate but you’re high if you think he didn’t achieve EXACTLY what he wanted by buying Newcastle.
