There didn’t seem too much happening over the weekend – most of us were getting over the shock and disappointment of losing a game to Crystal Palace that we should have won.
But a report in the Chronicle today says that Rafa went ahead with his transfer meetings with the heads of departments and those meetings also included Managing Director Lee Charnley.
Lee Charnley still has a good working relationship with Rafa and seems to have been given the task of persuading Rafa to stay on Tyneside and sign up to terms offered by owner Mike Ashley.
He was given that task in the early summer of 2016 after we were relegated and he got the job done then.
Mike Ashley is the problem in all of this.
The manager is still waiting for answers from the owner, and we would hope that Mike Ashley will jet into Newcastle sooner rather than later – to meet with Rafa one on one.
It may take that and some plain talking between the two men because it seems there are huge differences in where they want to take Newcastle in the future.
We hope that Ashley will defer to Rafa and let the manager build a top team with funds made available by the owner.
It seems a no-brainer that if Ashley did this Newcastle United FC would be worth quite some money a few years down the road.
If only Ashley could see that investment is necessary in football, and the club can reap those rewards in the future.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #4This from Ashley: “right then, this is extremely important so I’m flying in on Air Porkies immediately. We’ll get straight down to brass tacks. I’ll explain to Rafa that no transfer money will be forthcoming except anything he can make flogging some of our unwanted players. That should be more than enough. I’m sure Rafa will understand and sign his new contract immediately. Oh and Dave Kitson doesn’t have a clue. If I could get between 300 and 400 M for the club the business would have been done by now.”
Thank you Mike. Or not.

Not a word that can be easily attributed to this blog.
A polemic is contentious rhetoric that is intended to support a specific position by aggressive claims and undermining of the opposing position. Polemics are mostly seen in arguments about controversial topics. The practice of such argumentation is called polemics.

Comment #13Polemic is a substance composed of macromolecules (synonym: polymer molecules). Macromolecule = A molecule of high relative molecular mass, the structure of which essentially comprises the multiple repetition of units derived, actually or conceptually, from molecules of low relative molecular mass.
Whoops sorry that’s a polymer

Sports Direct said it had formally registered its interest in buying Debenhams from its new owners.
However, Chris Wootton, Sports Direct’s deputy chief financial officer told the BBC he believed Debenhams lenders may already have a plan in place: “It’s a case of the deal being done with a third party that keeps us locked out of it.”
So just like sd did with HoF and Evans then? Hilarious, or as Corporal Jones used to say “They don’t like it up ’em”.

Comment #36I fear we could be in for a bit of a beating against Leicester on Friday Rodgers has started to get them playing to their potential and they are just the kind of team that we struggle against!
Might be similar to the Arsenal game where we just chasing shadows with Vardy and Maddison tearing us apart how I am sure Rafa would love a front 2 like that with similar pace and quality!!
